Remarks

Overall I can rate Chitkara as a good college you can take your chance with and try to establish a new life. Now that you are here, pass through all the fun, struggles and become a good human with a decent job and life.

Entrance Preview

JEE- Mains. I scored 92 in the JEE-Mains exam. I always had a passion for computer science and had to persue my career in Computer Science Engineering.I was some marks short for Government Colleges but I needed a good private college now and I got to know about Chitkara University.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The college is alright. Myself being a computer science student, I get various opportunities to learn new courses and take part in competition like hackathons. I even won some!. A good effort is given on research and students as well as teachers are motivated to take part in research projects.

Internships Opportunities

A lot of companies come to visit the college for placements. Most of them provide internship offers in 6th or 7th Semester. Some provide stipend, and some don't. Some students opt for going for internships which is good, some don't. Students persue internship of their own also before placements to gain industry experience.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements is Chitkara University has always been known for. You can find lots of geeks here eager to get jobs for their skills. A lot of companies visit the campus and there is almost cent percent placement records. The average package ranges between 4.5 to 7 LPA. In today's date, it's the skills you have that earn you your package.

College Events

3.5

There are various societies in the college, both technical and non-technical, like C2S2, Epic Youth Club BitsNBytes, IEEE, ACM etc,. All these organise events to enjoy in and after college hours. A college fest named Explore takes place every year. Rest there are events all year round.Cultural art fest for plays and more named Rangrezz is held every year and is quite famous as lot of contestants from many colleges attend it every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible as much as I think. We have 75k as Academic fees and if you opt for a hostel, then additional fee of 43k is levied, every semester. Bus fee is charged according to the routes. I think the fee is affordable comparing other private colleges who demand a fortune.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship program is currently not there in the college. There are a LOT of foreign exchange programs for students to go abroad and study. The college has a lot of foreign countries tie-ups.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is good and joyous overall. You can have a good hangout with friends. Faculties are also good natured. One thing is that you would have to follow the dress code of college. There is uniform, where we have 2 days formals and 3 days t-shirts of college and jeans. You have to bear with discipline here, it is mandatory here. Gender ratio is almost like schools. Little more boys but girls strength is also good. There are students from various states and countries here. Major crowd is from Punjab, Haryana , Himachal Pradesh region. There are lot of labs some you won't have imagined. There's an excellent and renowned Chitkara Incubator for budding entrepreneurs named Explore Hub. It's really awesome place to work. Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Volleyball courts are here and gym is really impressive. I am a regular gymmer. Auditorium is also huge and houses lot of events.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel infrastructure is good overall and you won't have a problem overall in living here. The mess food is of Punjabi descent. I think the food is fine and I am fine eating food at mess with no issues. Wardens are friendly not that strict. Rest you can have a good time here.Ome thing good is that it's a ragging free campus and you don't need to worry about that.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has an alumni network called CAN, known as Chitkara Alumni Network. There is established online platform to manage alumni. There are regular meetups and almuni reunions that are held in college and outside college.

Exam Structure

We have a system of lot of exams that is hectic sometimes. We have 3 Sessional Test, of which 2 best of 3 are considered. If you perform well in first two sessionals, you can skip the third sessional for the respective subject. All these are of 40 marks. Then comes the End-Term of 60 marks for full syllabus which is mandatory for all the pass the semester. In between there are 3 lab evaluations, for 20 marks. One Internal of 40 marks and one external practical for 60 marks. Average of all give your lab score. It gets quite hectic with all there regular tests honestly.

Admission

The admission process is through score in JEE-Mains Exam. There is a cutoff set every year for the candidates to get an admission into the desired stream. Also Board Exam marks of minimum 60-65% is also needed. The admission forms are released and available every year after the mains exam is over. You can find the procurement centre address on the official college website, i.e www.chitkara.edu.in. Also you can download the form from the website and send it after filling it out. Counselling dates would be sent after successful submission.

Faculty

3.5

The overall faculty is a mixture of young and mid age experienced teachers. Some are quite new and some have been here for some time now. In college you have to learn the basic idea that faculty is for guidance, at the end it's your efforts and skills you learned yourself that would come into play. In the first year we have general subjects like Science subjects and Maths, with Engineering diagrams etc. In second year, the core subjects start for the respective fields. in CS we have Coding languages, Computer Networking, Operating System etc. Before you go to 3rd Year, students are divided into specialized streams like UCA( Coding Academy), Java-Oracle Academy, Data Science academy etc. Then comes training and placements!.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
