Likes

Academics is top notch. The clinical exposure students get here is the main highlight.
Extracurricular activities are active, with various clubs.
Friendly and supportive faculty always ready to help.

Dislikes

The hostels are very dated which somehow accomodate all the students.
A lot of students in a single batch, 250 in each batch
Though getting better, the college infrastructure also needs to get better.

Course Curriculum Overview

The MBBS course course comprises of 5.5 years including 1 year house surgency. The curriculum includes theory classes and clinical postings in the hospital. The faculty are supportive and never turn down any of our academic needs. You attend University exams every year which you are expected to pass

Class Size: 250Course Fees: INR 25000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Being a Medical College run by the government, the tution fees is minimal, staying below 30000 rupees per annum. The students from economically weaker sections can avail various scholarships provided by the government.

Campus Life

The campus is a colorful one, with a lot of activities. The college union is elected each year. The union conducts various programs that make college life enjoyable. Various clubs conducts their respective activities regularly.

Admission

NEET Entrance Exam is the eligibility exam. It was conducted by NTA. The application form is obtained from the NTA site. During the allotment process, you can set your prefered medical colleges in order of preference. Based on your rank in the NEET exam, you will be allotted to medical colleges.

Kmct medical college does not provide direct placement as medical graduates usually internship , postgraduation and independent medical practice. College provides mandatory one year internship in affiliated hospitals. I would like to pursue higher studies

My dream college in reality.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.

Calicut Medical College - an ideal place to learn and grow as a doctor

I got admission on state quota (general category) after giving the NEET exam in 2019. I scored 646/ 720 and had an AIR rank of 1039 and state rank of 131. The overall application process was easy and all the necessary forms were given in the college itself. The admission dates were informed in the state website of Kerala, which can be found after filling the application for state quota. Application fees was paid in the college treasury itself.
