Entrance Exam - MHT-CET I wanted to pursue chemical engineering and this college has a renowned name in chemical field. No interview was there as such , my admission was done through CAP process. Family business is of chemicals , hence the stream I selected was chemical engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course had subject which are useful in your further carrier , which means you get to know the theory which you will learn ,can be applied practically when you pass out. Practical learning was focused on scale of 7 out of 10. We had min 2 labs for every semester. There were wide range of electives depending on in which year are you off your engineering. 1st sem electives - German, Japanese, French (Languages) 2nd sem electives - Level 2 of the above languages. 3rd sem electives - Business law, Entrepreneur, IT-skill 4th sem electives - Flute, Taekwondo, synthesizer ,guitar 5th ,6th ,7th & 8thsem electives - Related courses to your stream like environment engineering, petroleum engineering, Transport Phenomena etc.
Internships Opportunities
College doesn't provide you internship , you have to find it on your own . Yes , the college will help you in finding one or help you the documents needed for that . But all the work has to be done by you . I had done my internship in NCL (National Chemical Laboratory) . It was the best experience , I presented a paper on the work which was done during that internship. There was no stipend as such, it was alright for me because to work in NCL is a big thing .
Placement Experience
College has a separate department for placement purpose called the TPO . Placement percentage varies depending on branches. Mechanical, Computer and IT have a good amount placement compared to other branches. In our stream i.e. Chemical placement percentage was about 20 % only. Major chunk concentrated on higher studies. Top companies of varies field were like Barclays, Honeywell, Sulzer, Jacobs, Eaton , Nvidia, Morgan Stanley, Cognizant, Wipro etc Avg package - 4 lac
College Events
Technical Fest we had Robocon Cultural Fest was Melange Different fest were there like Vishwakarandak. Melange was the biggest fest , it is quite popular also. Average crowd for the fest 1-2K . A separate student committee along with some senior staff carried the duties for the fest . College paid half the expenses and half was through sponsorships.
Fee Structure And Facilities
All engineering college fees approximately the same as per my knowledge. The main difference in the fees structure depends on from which caste do you belong. The fees paid differed from student to student depending on from which caste they belong. First year fees ,we'd to pay it during our admission via DD the whole amount (94K). For the remaining year fees was paid at the current education year . Means at the end first year ,before our final exams for that year ,we had to 2nd year fees in advance /whatever the results will come doesn't matter. Same was the process for the rest year. Different schemes like TFWS were available. For Open/ General it was 90K - 1 lac per year For OBC - Around 50-60K For SC/NT - 10K
Fees and Financial Aid
I guess they had such schemes but I did not avail any .
Campus Life
I did not take part in any extracurricular. But the college provide facilities like ground and material for it .
Hostel Facilities
No. Hostel was alright but the location was in upper Indira nagar, which is a slum area . Not safe to go out of hostel after 10.30pm.
Alumni/Alumna
Every year a alumni meet is conducted in college . In this meet alumni from varies field share their experience and guide student in their carrier decision.
Exam Structure
It was a chill culture . Because we had 2 lecture of 1 hour each and then lab of 2 hour . Time spent in lecture n lab - Min 4 and Max 6 hours per day.
Faculty
College had recruited mostly PhD holders , M-Tech background people at our time . Some them had a teaching experience of about more than 10 years and some of them had about 5 years of experience. Courses were given to professors as per they expertise in that field. Sometimes , in order to shuffle and teacher to learn new subjects, other faculty members of different courses were selected for teaching different courses. Interaction levels differed from professor to professor. On a an average the interaction was good , all were very helpful . Teaching standard is good , we weren't stuffed with too many chapters , every year a review of the teacher and subject was taken , which led to assessment of both and helped in quality learning .
