I chose the course to explore the clinical pharmacy side Faculty student ratio is 1:10 ratio The faculties are Mpharm or Pharmd graduates,with PhD and has an experience of minimum 2 years in teaching. And each faculty has number of publications both nationally and internationally. For pharmD the university exams are conducted once a year with 3 internal exams And for Bpharm the university exams are conducted twice with 2 internal exams in each semester

Apollo hospital Nestle Episource novo nordisk Kims hospital These are the top recruiting companies The roles includes clinical pharmacist, drug analyst, scientific writer etc The stipend for pharmd interns is approximately about Rs 10000

Placement Experience

For bpharm the students are eligible for placements from 8th semester And for pharmD the students are eligible during the 6 th year The companies recruiting are Tata consultancy, apollo hospitals, bioclinica, episource novo nordisk My plan is to work as clinical pharmacist

Fees and Financial Aid

Both Bpharm and Pharmd has different fees structure For pharmD the first year fee was 4.12 lakhs Including food and accommodation. Fees structure is different for management, merit and nri seats The fee is high compared to other colleges as there amount of lab works and exposure to clinical side is really high as well

Arts- Dhwani Which is conducted during December Tech fest - Swasti Which is the first pharma fest ever, which is going to be conducted in March Library consists of more than 6000 books From various departments also general books for reading And pharmacopoeias and journals are also available Classrooms are connected with projectors and white board With tables and chairs Sports fest- Udgosh Conducted during march or april Interpharma tournaments are also conducted dor badminton, table tennis, throwball, cricket etc The college has literary club, sports club, music club, dance club, nature club, social service club, yoga club etc

Hostel Facilities

The room consists of 3 beds, 3 cupboards, 3 chairs, 3 persons are there in a single room Meals are fine And the menu changes everyweek Pure vegetarian meals only The registration for hostel was done online along with other fees submission Hostel fees - 68000 per annum The PG s are available near the college premises

Admission

Applicant must pass their 10th and 12th grade exams with minimum 50% in physics, chemistry and biology or maths. Person must be below 23 years of age and above 17 years of age. The application form, fees and dates are all available in amrita.edu

Interview Experience

We were entrance exam. The exam was conducted online by amrita.Most questions were asked from chemistry, biology, physics which were from the 11th and 12th grade ncert textbooks. The admissions were completely proceeded via online on their site. The required documents were asked to be submitted at the office on the specified date Preparation for the entrance exam can be done by referring ncert textbooks

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course docter of pharmacy provides insights into the use of modern medicine and therapeutics. After completing pharmd you can work as a clinical pharmacist and help docters design thier treatment regimon that provides maximum benefits to patients and is cost effective. This influenced my decision to choose this course. But for real world applications the preparation provided but the curriculum is not upto the marks. Yet the college manages to provide as clinical postings in hospital which helps to improve patient student interactions and real world conditions. I find the course still needs improvement in improving the application level skills of the students. Since the academic schedule is planned yearly the frequency and timing of exams is not too hectic. Yet there is a lot of topics to be covered in a short time. The timing in between two exams is short.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college is known for its hospital. Its situated in a good area of town. This course is a developing course hence was new to me. The curriculum system is mainly based on improving theoretical knowledge and gives less importance in practical knowledge gain. But the course is practically useful in hospitals as it is a very important in patient counselling. Doctors diagnose the patient whereas it is the clinical pharmacist who shoild prescribr and give patient counselling about the medicine to the patient or by-stander. Hence academically the curriculum supports students by providing hospital trainings during 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year and internship. Improvement can be done in the examination system by not making student study just for the exams and implement practical gain of knowledge. Teaching methods can be for student freindly and interactive instead of just showing slideshows which are done most of the time. Exams are conducted according to an academic calender hiven ecmvery year for that particilar year. Usually 3 sessionals are written in every 2 to 3 months. Questions for the exam are of all kinds ranging from simple to application level.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soevific asoects of the curriculum that influenced me to decide doing Pharmd program is, in our country there is lot of prescribing errors and dispensing errors making patient life more danger. In my point of view. PharmD is an bridge between Prescriber and patient. The pharmd curriculum established by india(PCI) is not good. Because it is almost same as Bpharm curriculum. The areas for improving the course curriculum and teaching methods are to include subjects like general medicine, General Prescribing guidelines to make the pharmd as prescribing doctors and to enhance the deep into the medicine.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main advantage of this course is to serve as a medical professional in the society. So I like this course. Weekly twice clinical postings are scheduled since the second year of pharm D for the real world application purpose. After fourth year there will be all day clinical postings except Friday. Exam timing is 3 hours, and it is conducted yearly once the regular exam and a supplementary exam is conducted for clearing the arrier papers.
