Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course I studying is pharm-d the curriculum is updated along with advancements in the field of pharmacy this course is also very practically oreinted and offers more practical classes in the form of hospital postings rather than theory classes thereby making it easier for us when we enter a job

Internships Opportunities

4

Students of the final year are offered internship opportunities the pharm d course involves a 1 year internship in its syllabus which is offered in al shifa hospital itself it is a paid internship the facilities offered are very good and you get to learn from experienced doctors and other hospital staff

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement cell of al shifa is connected to many reputable companies in the field of pharmacy and offers placement to students in the final year of thier course. Out of 100 student 40-50%of the students get campus selection with very good packages. Placement opportunities are also available in al shifa hospital as well

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is very accommodating and the management is flexible for those students that have financial issues. There are many scholarship opportunities that takes place in the campus itself. The fees are not usually hiked and has been constant for a long time. I personally pay 2,50,000 per year including hostel fees .

Campus Life

4

The campus life is very socially active as the campus provides access to many community clubs such as NSS red Cross and ED clubs the campus also provides many industrial visits and community projects to students of every year

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facilities are alright there are no ac rooms available and there are chances of power cuts but those are solved quickly the hostel costs about 22000 per year and the mess is about 3500 per month compared to other colleges the food is of good quality and both veg and non veg options are available

Admission

The admission process is very simple and not that complicated the student first fixes an appointment with the admission officer and meets him they discuss the details of the course the fees etc.. Then they pre book seats for the course after that they come to the campus and fill out some forms and the admission is fixed. There are entrance exams such as KEAM that offer merit seats based on marks scored

Faculty

4.5

The faculty members are all very well educated professor that are well known and deeply connected to their respective fields they are known to publih their own research papers from time to time. The interactioms with the students are also very good as these faculty members know how to teach the students without making them feel bored they are also very accommodating to our request and ready to clarify any of our doubts no matter the time

Course Curriculum Overview:

The practical sessions of the courses are the most effective way to implement and integrate the theoretical knowledge accumulated in the classes. The hospital trainings and ward rounds are the best tools to cultivate and condition the personnel to be ready for the medical world.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course docter of pharmacy provides insights into the use of modern medicine and therapeutics. After completing pharmd you can work as a clinical pharmacist and help docters design thier treatment regimon that provides maximum benefits to patients and is cost effective. This influenced my decision to choose this course. But for real world applications the preparation provided but the curriculum is not upto the marks. Yet the college manages to provide as clinical postings in hospital which helps to improve patient student interactions and real world conditions. I find the course still needs improvement in improving the application level skills of the students. Since the academic schedule is planned yearly the frequency and timing of exams is not too hectic. Yet there is a lot of topics to be covered in a short time. The timing in between two exams is short.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college is known for its hospital. Its situated in a good area of town. This course is a developing course hence was new to me. The curriculum system is mainly based on improving theoretical knowledge and gives less importance in practical knowledge gain. But the course is practically useful in hospitals as it is a very important in patient counselling. Doctors diagnose the patient whereas it is the clinical pharmacist who shoild prescribr and give patient counselling about the medicine to the patient or by-stander. Hence academically the curriculum supports students by providing hospital trainings during 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year and internship. Improvement can be done in the examination system by not making student study just for the exams and implement practical gain of knowledge. Teaching methods can be for student freindly and interactive instead of just showing slideshows which are done most of the time. Exams are conducted according to an academic calender hiven ecmvery year for that particilar year. Usually 3 sessionals are written in every 2 to 3 months. Questions for the exam are of all kinds ranging from simple to application level.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soevific asoects of the curriculum that influenced me to decide doing Pharmd program is, in our country there is lot of prescribing errors and dispensing errors making patient life more danger. In my point of view. PharmD is an bridge between Prescriber and patient. The pharmd curriculum established by india(PCI) is not good. Because it is almost same as Bpharm curriculum. The areas for improving the course curriculum and teaching methods are to include subjects like general medicine, General Prescribing guidelines to make the pharmd as prescribing doctors and to enhance the deep into the medicine.
