Remarks

Positive - the college atmosphere is amazing. The students are friendly, and helpful. The teachers and non teaching staffs are amazing. Negative - College tours are an imagination sometimes due to the tight schedule, hence we have to sacrifice that sometimes.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course here is very detailed and difficult as compared to other states. The syllabus is decided from the University which is Kerala University of Health Sciences. The examination for promotion is conducted every year which are University exams. In between the year, there are 3 sets of internal examinations conducted by the college which includes theory and practical. The theory examinations are out of 70 marks and practical examination out of 30 marks. That's all.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements and job opportunities here in India, especially Kerala are very limited for this course. The majority of the jobs are outside India. Yes, our college provides internship for my course in our partnered hospital. The internship is 1 year. I haven't started my internship yet as I have 2 more years to go. The stipend is low - around 5000?.

College Events

3.5

There are a lot of events celebrated in our college such as Onam, pharmacist's day, diabetes day, obesity day, Alzheimer's day, Christmas, biennially Arts and sports events, farewell and other events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is the same in all the pharmacy colleges - ?200000 per year. This is feasible if you consider other states but there are states where the fees are lesser than what is in here. So, it depends on person to person and their income.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarship facilities which the college supports, but since I haven't applied yet, I have no idea on those. Loan is provided only to such students who are financially in trouble. For other students of scheduled casts and tribes, there is concession and reduction.

Campus Life

4

Labs are all highly functional and great. The equipments are costly and have not been that recent since bought. Sports are another important activity in our college. We have badminton, cricket, football only which we play after college. There are sports events conducted biennially in our college.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

There isn't hostel facility for boys yet as the number of boys in the college are way less as compared to the number of girls in our college. The girls hostel on the other hand is great, has lots of spacious rooms and it was constructed recently.

Alumni/Alumna

There isn't an alumni network as of now. I'm hoping the college or the alumnus students start one soon. We usually have contact with the seniors who have passed out of the college, but that's all. It would be really helpful if an alumni network was formed.

Admission

I was selected in both community and NRI quotas. There are other quotas like merit, entrance, etc. First, you have to apply for the desired course in the desired form which is actually common to all the pharmacy colleges in Kerala. Then you are ranked in various colleges that you applied for and you can select the college based on your ranking. Once that's done, the admission procedure is simple, bring the necessary items like fitness certificate, original documents of 10th and 12th Mark lists, and other related documents with a few passport size photographs. Once you're done with the selection and submitted your documents, you're called later to inform when the college will start the inaugural ceremony and when the first day starts. That's it.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty members are very helpful and caring. They are involved in all the activities of the college. The teaching staff, including the principal is very efficient and educated. There is strict discipline and rules to be followed. The non teaching staffs include lab assistants and other cleaning staffs. They're also very helpful and caring.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The practical sessions of the courses are the most effective way to implement and integrate the theoretical knowledge accumulated in the classes. The hospital trainings and ward rounds are the best tools to cultivate and condition the personnel to be ready for the medical world.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course docter of pharmacy provides insights into the use of modern medicine and therapeutics. After completing pharmd you can work as a clinical pharmacist and help docters design thier treatment regimon that provides maximum benefits to patients and is cost effective. This influenced my decision to choose this course. But for real world applications the preparation provided but the curriculum is not upto the marks. Yet the college manages to provide as clinical postings in hospital which helps to improve patient student interactions and real world conditions. I find the course still needs improvement in improving the application level skills of the students. Since the academic schedule is planned yearly the frequency and timing of exams is not too hectic. Yet there is a lot of topics to be covered in a short time. The timing in between two exams is short.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college is known for its hospital. Its situated in a good area of town. This course is a developing course hence was new to me. The curriculum system is mainly based on improving theoretical knowledge and gives less importance in practical knowledge gain. But the course is practically useful in hospitals as it is a very important in patient counselling. Doctors diagnose the patient whereas it is the clinical pharmacist who shoild prescribr and give patient counselling about the medicine to the patient or by-stander. Hence academically the curriculum supports students by providing hospital trainings during 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year and internship. Improvement can be done in the examination system by not making student study just for the exams and implement practical gain of knowledge. Teaching methods can be for student freindly and interactive instead of just showing slideshows which are done most of the time. Exams are conducted according to an academic calender hiven ecmvery year for that particilar year. Usually 3 sessionals are written in every 2 to 3 months. Questions for the exam are of all kinds ranging from simple to application level.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soevific asoects of the curriculum that influenced me to decide doing Pharmd program is, in our country there is lot of prescribing errors and dispensing errors making patient life more danger. In my point of view. PharmD is an bridge between Prescriber and patient. The pharmd curriculum established by india(PCI) is not good. Because it is almost same as Bpharm curriculum. The areas for improving the course curriculum and teaching methods are to include subjects like general medicine, General Prescribing guidelines to make the pharmd as prescribing doctors and to enhance the deep into the medicine.
