CGC College of Engineering - [CGC COE] Landran, BE, Computer Science And Engineering

Remarks

Attendence is really a big issue there and teachers are really good if you need help except 2or 3.Also mess food is also bad after some time of admissions.

Entrance Preview

JEE , UPTU and IP . Well if you scored more than 70% then nothing to worry about admission. It's easy to take admission in this college. But you need full fees at the time of admission or within 2-3 weeks.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Well , as we all know about the syllabus of PTU, it's outdated but it's changing for 2018 batch , so hope for the better syllabus and some improvement. Right now some subjects are outdated and very unrelevant to our course. For eg. There is chemistry in computer science..., It really irritates us.

Internships Opportunities

Well I not sure about it , as I have just completed my first year right now, but yes, right now there is just training in our college and in 1st year they don't allow us to do internship as there are mandatory classes for training in sql, oops , web technologies and networking.

Placement Experience

4

If you heard about this college then you are much aware about the placements and jobs. There are a lot of opportunities for jop seeker from low packages to higher one. But it totally depends on you that hoe much you work on your skills. If you are good at something then company will definitly hire you

College Events

4.5

Don't worry about the events as there will be a lot of events going on everytime. From sports to artistic. From coding to creativity. I Personally participated in most of them and even got first prize in tattoo making. So events are really a fun part there.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is very less in all of the courses while comparing to other colleges. For computer science or in btech ( any branch) fee is about 90k per annual at my time in2017-18 (don't know if any updation is there) , which is really affordable for me and 75k for hostel per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

If you are sc or st or obc then you sill get some scholarship and also there are some summer interns abroad or nationally.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio is normal as there in other colleges . If you are a hard worker then workshop will really help you as there workshops very frequent there. And you will find no issue realted to gender, politics race or religion. As there are all youths so they know what is right and what is wrong.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels for first-year students are really good if you pay more, you will get a better hostel. Mess food is bad after 2 months of admission. There is a new hostel which was built just right now. But for 2nd year the hostel doesn't seem to be as much good as for the first year.(you have to change hostel in 2nd year).

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are mostly helpful even they will guide you about what to do what to not. If you are a hosteler then definitly you will get a benefit due to seniors in hostel .

Exam Structure

Exams are always boring because a theory is a thing which almost everyone hates. But during lab, it will be little fun if you are interested in that particular subject. But sometimes labs are also boring due to less freedom in the lab and narrow techniques.

Admission

You have to register first for admission as soon as possible and after registration and some registration fees , you get a call after some time for full payment and other informations about class, section , roll no. And all . You also have to submit your 10th and 12th documents along with aadhar card copy.

Faculty

4

Faculty is really good , they really wanted to make our knowldege to next level but sometimes syllabus is the issue. Otherwise if you are willing to do something , they will definitly help. Some are not good but most of them are really helping in nature.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In 3rd semester a student is eligible for campus placement but it is all upto to students that they have to maintain a good cgpa and skills for interviews. In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
