Amazing academic institutions which lags in placement

This is an Autonomous Institute accredited by Government of Maharashtra. College was started in 1963 so it has large experience in technical field. There are so many activities taken place in college and all the students take part in these activities with great enthusiasm. The campus life and hostel life is wonderful. All the students coming in the college are scholars as the cut-off is high for this institute. The college is good for every Branch but it is the best for Civil Engineering. I'm completely satisfied with college but not satisfied with the placements of core branches.

The entrance examination was MHT-CET. I scored 139/200. When I searched for colleges i got to know dat this college is Autonomous institute. Along with that, I wanted to elect Civil engineering trade so I come to know that GCOEA is having civil engineering from 1964. So as this is government autonomous college and for B. Tech degree I selected this college.

The course curriculum includes all the required courses to acquire a good knowledge of construction. As the institute is Autonomous, the curriculum is revised based on the opinions of the senior staff and the best knowledge is imparted amongst the students. College don't have much focus towards research but still if someone is having some idea then those are welcome. We got little industry exposure as our teachers took us to the nearby construction site. Also our minor project was held at actual site in Chikhaldara.

College doesn't provide the internship. If anyone wants to pursue internship then he/she needs to take required efforts and college helps only for documentation and other processes. People who did internship never get the stipend as those are the free internship. There are few companies who visit our college and hire few people for projects but still, those are free. This college is not so interested in offering the internship to students.

Placement for 2015 Batch was approx 40%. But unfortunately for 2016 batch, it is lowered down up to 25%. But the number of students got selected were placed in reputed companies such as L&T construction, Shapoorji Palonji, Reliance Retail, HJB Oman. The highest package offered was 5.8 lac by HJB Oman and all the selected students got the offer letter within 2-3 months after completion of a degree. The details mentioned above are only about the Civil core companies visiting our college. The placement of non-core streams such as the computer, IT is 100% or sometimes it is more than 100% as many students got placed in 2 companies. The lowest package offered was 3.2 lac and the average package is 3.5 lac. Civil engineering students got the roles such as Graduate Engineer Trainee, Junior Engineer, etc. The internship wasn't at all offered by the college but students searched by themselves and did the free internship during summer vacation.

Our college have different events such as Alumni meet, annual gathering Zenith and annual cultural festival Prajwalan. Alumni meet include get together of our alumunous which are pass-out students of 25year old batch. Zenith is cultural festival includes fun activities and a best platform for art lovers. Prajwalan technical festival is best platform for technical activities and fun. People from different institutions visit our college for this festival. Prajwalan is known ad India's Biggest Technical Festival.

Initially fee was less but when the institute got autonomous accreditation, its fee got increase. Admission fee during 2012 was nearly 50000 for Open Candidate. And being autonomous institute, they have permission to increase fee every year by 10%. So the fee is quite expensive.

College have many scholarship facilities such as Government scholarship, freeship, minority scholarship scheme, etc. I have opted for Government scholarship scheme which is given to Obc candidate having annual income less than 1lac per annum. By paying around ?35000 college fee I got around ?20000 in return because of this scholarship.

Infrastructure of the college is good as every department is separately situated in individual building. The labs and classrooms are also verg good. Computer labs have adequate computers with all facilities. Wifi is not provided in departments but it is provided in hostel. The hostel building is renovated in last year so the rooms are good and well furnished. The quality of the food offerd in canteen is average but it is value for the money as we have to spend less on food. The accommodation provided at hostel is at very less price. Campus environment is good. Gender ratio is 60:40. All labs. Workshop etc. Are well equipped. College supports robotics competition, debates, sports and all extra curricular activities. College provided best platform for all these activities. College is free from political issues. Its economic status is also high as this is government institute. But these people spend less as per their earnings on overall development of college.

College have strong alumni network. Alumni are helpful as they take efforts for placement. They also provided good library for those who want to persue government jobs. Even every year some group of Alumni visit our college and provide some fund for overall development of college.

Exam structure is nice. Each subject of 100 marks is divided in 15+15+10+60 pattern. Every month we have 15 marks class test. 10 marks are teacher assesment and end semester exam helds 60 marks. As every engineering institute examination and labs are hectic. Submission schedule is too much hectic. Even staff is not that much cooperative during submission. End semester exam is adequately difficult.

Admission is done as per the process of DTE (Directorate of Technical Education). Initially we need to enroll for this admission process using online method. Then a schedule generated showing different milestones going to take place during admission process such as form filling, CAP rounds, final allotment, etc. So as per that I fill the college preference form of CAP round 1 and then as per my marks I got selected in this institution. Then I came to college paid the required fee and after filling few forms n providing documents I finalized my allotment.

Faculty of every department is best. Many teachers have acquired Ph.D or M. Tech in their respective field. They have experience of more than 15-20 Years. They are knowledgeable as they teach their students by taking great efforts. The teaching was normally done with the help of blackboard or slideshow. Power point presentation is normally used for teaching. During our project there were 1 faculty for 6-7 students.
