Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course because I was always keen on this creative field and I saw potential in this. The faculty-student ratio at Shoolini is 1:5 and all of them were well-qualified and veteran journalists. The term exams used to happen every 6 months which was quite easy if the students took their classes and practical lectures seriously.

Internships Opportunities

5

As mentioned earlier I was interning with Punjab Kesari and Hindustan Times with a stipend of 3k. While interning on the Shoolini campus itself I was earning around 5k per month. So, overall Shoolini prepared me to focus on the professional ground and made me strong for the media line.

Placement Experience

4

During the internships we used to go for companies like Hindustan Times, TOI, Punjab Kesari, News 18, PTC Punjab, Radio Mirchi, and other renowned media companies. So, for my placement, I was directly hired at Hindustan Times while doing my internship as a part of my curriculum. for the first year, I joined Punjab Kesari and in the last year, I was there in Hindustan Times.

Fees and Financial Aid

There was no fee hike policy in Shoolini. The fees submitted at the start remained the same throughout. Moreover, students are given a chance for scholarships and programs to study abroad and semester exchange as well. However, I didn't choose the study abroad program as I always wanted to study in India. During my degree, I did several internships on the campus itself which used to pay me around 5-6k per month for each internship.

Campus Life

5

The campus is as lively as my personality. The beauty of Shoolini is truly indescribable. The campus and people make you fall in love with nature and simplicity. We had different studios for radio, video, news anchoring and of course, who can miss all the greens and colors of shoolini. For the eating and chilling zone we had different campuses in and around campus. My personal favorite was NEscafe and its Maggie. As a supporter of Love, I always admired people who were different, and at Shoolini, I got a chance to be a part of such an amazing and different club which was called PRISM for all LGBTQ+ people. Though my orientation is totally straight I wanted to learn more about the LGBT people and this club gave me the perfect platform to explore different variations of love which is truly BEAUTIFUL.

Admission

I was searching for a university in the hills and then I got to know about Shoolini University in Solan. I looked for the journalism program and filled out the form. The admission counselor from the university called me and then I had to take up the eligibility test which included the reasoning questions. After cleaning the test, the counselor gave me a call and told me that I was eligible for admission to Shoolini.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose journalism because I loved being in front of the camera and talking to people and getting their stories out. Also, I was into writing and PR so I found journalism the right Choice for my career. Our department has 4 faculties. They are really motivating and interactive. But could have been much better if the right subjects were given to them. The exams are on time and are not much difficult as we have practical work.
