Remarks
Honestly, you'll have fun during 4 years and learn things too while getting a degree. But the quality of engineering taught here is not what you might have always wanted. But then it's not much different than other engineering colleges.
Entrance Preview
My score in MHCET wasn't up to the mark and as a result the options I had were very limited. I was fixed of the mechanical branch which made it difficult to get into a better college as mechanical had the highest cut off. So I took admission here to save a year.
Course Curriculum Overview
So the college is affiliated to the Mumbai University. This basically just means that the course has been the same for years and for some subjects in the senior years, there aren't even proper textbooks. The entire curriculum is based on mugging up and parroting from Techmax which is a note based textbook. Research and creativity is a dead end in this college. Free thinking and support is a big thing to ask for.
Internships Opportunities
The college is unable to provide any internship. Students are required to find internships themselves. Some professors have a few contacts, but then you'll have to pay for internship. The internships are decent and you learn but since you're actually paying for it, the question of stipend answers itself.
Placement Experience
Honestly, the placement scenario in this college is brutal. At one point, you'll feel more pity for college than for yourself. The CS and IT branches still have a few placements going but any core branch, forget job. I was in mechanical, and the handful of profiles offered in my department were mostly sales or bpo. No one got placed in a core job in my batch. Many people are still without jobs. The general package offered was max 2 lakh per annum.
College Events
There are many events that take place in the college. Some are for the entire college and some are departmental: College: 1. The main college fest- NAKSHATRA- This is a beautiful fest and a lot of roles are there for students. 1. Fresher's Party 2. Farewell party
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees per year certainly seems a bit much for the experience you get here. Also because there are a lot of things you have to pay for apart from the official college fees. The fees per year during my time was around 95k per year. There are committes and events in the college for which you've to pay for yourself. The college provides nothing.
Fees and Financial Aid
None. The college won't help in any loan either. Just a concession on travelling charges for students who travel from far off places.
Campus Life
The Campus life is easy going with not much work pressure. A lot of useless assignments are given but it's all doable. Gender ratio is pretty equal depending on the branch too. There are 3-4 cultural committees in every department. So some team work opportunities are there. Most events take place during the Nakshatra fest!
Hostel Facilities
The canteen is good! The food is tasty, hygienic and not that costly. The cafeteria is located in a good open place also which allows fresh air inside and is the best part of the entire college. There is not official Hostel by the college but there are a lot of PGs and flats for rent in the area. You'll get decent apartments for decent cost! But the locality is too good. Heart of the city. Excellent food scenario and shopping scenario so food will never be a problem.
Alumni/Alumna
As I said, the placements are the worst thing about the college, so there is no existent Alumini network.
Exam Structure
The exams are held by Mumbai University so are standard to it. In each semester there are two 20 marks Unit Tests held by college and a final semester exam of 80 marks held my university. The cgpa is calculated accordingly. The sem exams are even spaced 5-6 days apart so it's not at all hectic. The college life is pretty chill.
Admission
I got admission through CAP round by dte. After CET exam, CAP rounds are held where the candidate is given a chance to select colleges of his/her choice according to the preference, and DTE allots seat in the respective college according to the merit. This is a pretty fair way of admission. Although management seats are also there in the college. Once you get a college alloted in the CAP round, just okhay the college and take the required documents to the college for admission.
Faculty
The Faculty are qualified and hold advanced degrees but many lack basic English communication skills. Basically you are at the mercy of your processor for 4 years. So either be good at licking *** or hurdle your way outta here. Personally, I hurdled a lot!
