Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course as I wanted to go into the field of space technology specially rocketry. And for that mechanical engg is a field that can help me understand the thermodynamics used in this. There are almost 10 faculties per class which includes professors and helping staff. Each class contains on an average 70 students. So 1:7 would be a good ratio. Faculties are highly qualified and experienced but some faculty don't have such a good teaching methodology. Learning from some faculties seems so dull that we prefer reading materials and watching online lectures than learning from them. Attendance system of college drives students to their class. Otherwise, none would be going to their class. Term was not so difficult. We did well. But most of the students found it difficult to pass in some subjects as they did not understood the topic well and precise materials were not available for those subjects.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship is promoted in our branch by many companies. The college carries out summer internship programmes. But we should maintain a good cgpa in college and indulge in all sorts of things related to development of skills in the college. Innovation garage is such a place in our college which is based on skill development and help people to develop product based ideology there.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students can apply for internships in 3rd year and for placements in the 4th year of their college life. Mostly Tata, Hyundai, Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc. visit the college. I dont have knowledge about offers made this year. In mech average package was 12.5 LPA, the highest package was 28 LPA but overall college's highest package was 88 LPA. In my branch, the placement rate is 94%. Overall placement rate, I dont know but it's above 96%. I plan to prepare for civil services after taking my degree if I am unable to get a good placement of at least 12 LPA+.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is good as NITs are one of the cheapest colleges in our country. Financial assistance is also provided but I did not take any so I dont know much about it. But some of my friends have applied and got it so it's a really good system.

Campus Life

4.5

Spring Spree is the biggest annual fest here which is conducted in March. Tech fests are Technozion in December and Youth Fest in January. It has a really big library with 22 lakh books worth 8 cr+ Classrooms are also good with good facilities. Sports and extracurricular activities are encouraged and promoted greatly. A lot of games are played except swimming. There are many clubs run by students here almost 23+ clubs including robotics club, astronomy club, music and dance club, etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

1st year rooms are double. No option for single rooms. They are actually single sized rooms but are alloted to 2 people so it is congesting. There are private messes here so food quality is good at least for 1st year students. Menu is a mixture of south and north indian food. Registration for hostel is done at the time of physical reporting but you need to pay hostel fees in advance. It is affordable. Currenlty I dont think there are PG rooms available in this locality. College is out of city so it is quite difficult to find hotels to stay nearby. So it is kuch difficult to find PG rooms to stay.

Admission

The cutoff was very high. Reservation kills. People who have 1 lakh rank and me who have 16k rank study in the same class. Guidance should be given to aspirants while counselling. Ill-knowledgeable aspirants before counselling may make some mistakes which may end them up in some worthless college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like that the course doesn't feel outdated. Along with the regular subjects we spend a lot of time on coding, projects, and problem solving so it feels connected to what companies actually expect. As a second year student i already feel like i am building skills that i will be able to use during internships and placements and not just preparing for semester exams

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Placement cell is least active.. Few good companies like Infosys, amazon, TCS etc visited but the average package is of 1-2 LPA and only 25-30% of students whose all exams are cleared can sit in the placement cell. The highest package is of 8LPA. My plan is to move abroad for higher studies.. The students after completion of 6th sem can sit in placement cell

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
