- Our college has a great history and studying under that legacy is in itself a proud moment
- The lifestyle that our college eventually provides is enjoyable as well. Almost every other evening is jam-packed jamming sessions at rock or adda over tea at 23 er pally
- There is no pressure on academics as it is on one individual of they want to focus on their academics or not. The door is open for both the choices.
Dislikes
- The Campus of our college particularly is not very spaceous, it does not have any playgrounds or similar game courts.
- The lack of usage of digitisation in several fields which are now used in school levels as well but not here. Also a better canteen perhaps.
- There is no proper placement provided for the course as after all it is a government run college
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Journalism at Asutosh College as it is one of the best colleges providing this course under Calcutta University. My interest in media is well nourished in the course curriculum. The faculty at Asutosh is good. For more details check out the college website. Most of them hold graduation degrees with some having PhDs. The internal examinations in college are quite easy to pass for everyone.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fees are really affordable in Calcutta University standing today in 2023 where 3-4 years of graduation degrees cost lakhs and lakhs of rupees. There are also multiple options for scholarships and financial assistance programs from the government.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty happening, with above 20 departments in Asutosh College, events are spotted all year round. The college also hosts amazing libraries. Although some might complain about the amenities of the main building the newer buildings of our college do come with the facilities required.
Admission
The admission process was indeed very easy in Calcutta University and it is the same for all colleges under it. The eligibility is to have 60% in your 12th results and also on the availability of seats in a particular college. The application forms are available on the college websites as well as the university website. The process itself is pretty smooth and one just needs to act quickly once the merit lists are out with their names, to grab the seats within time.
