Likes
- I like the general atmosphere in the campus, and it provides a way for oneself to harbour their intellectual growth. The campus is filled eith greenery, and taking night walks is enjoyable along the long roads.
- The people studying here are very nice, and the seniors have guided me in every step of the process.
- The faculty of our department is very highly educated, and each of our professors are stalwarts in their research domains. Many of our professors are beneficiaries of several government grants.
Dislikes
- The mess food quality could be much better, but I guess that can be excused because the food is prepared for a large number of students in our canteen.
- The senior hostels, mainly Hall 9, lack many basic facilities that would be expected from a national college. Hall 9 does not have covered almirahs, and we are forced to keep our items in the open, which is quite unhygienic and insecure.
- The research facilities of the college are still underfunded. Although that might change with the inauguration of the Vikas Bhawan, which is said to solely focus on research.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose to study a pure science course in an engineering college because I wanted to pursue my dream of studying chemistry. I left a computer science course at KIIT Bhubaneswar for this course. The faculty-student ratio is around 1 for the Department of Chemistry. Each and every one of our faculty is very highly educated, and each faculty is a stalwart in their respective fields. Term exams are conducted according to a strict schedule, and all of us are constantly engaged in some activities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hike policy is alright and bearable by the student. The college charges Rs 21,300 per semester for general category students, for the course of Integrated MSc. The college provides the means to enroll in several scholarship programs that are offered both by state and central governments. I am not enrolled in any scholarship program.
Campus Life
Aarohan is the annual techno-management fest that is conducted by many clubs in our college. Aarohan was conducted in March this year. It was a sight to behold, with the entire campus wrapped in beautiful lights. The biggest attraction to Aarohan was Techmela, which is a science and technical exhibition that is conducted every year by the RnD Cell of CCA. The library contains all the books needed for our course and beyond. The classroom allocated for the Department of Chemistry is good but it lacks an air conditioning system which makes it a little difficult in the summer
Admission
The admission process was quite good, and I did not face much difficulty in the document submission. Since the JoSAA counseling process is automated, I did not have to do a lot of things. I want to see the number of seats to be increased in the following years since only 19 seats are available for admission to Integrated MSc.
