Remarks

Years in the Saintgits college of engineering is always great and fruitful. A friendly atmosphere where you can excel in your curricular, techincal, sporting and artistic areas

Entrance Preview

Kerala Entrance Examination is the primary window to be entered there and so do I too. Among all the colleges in my area, on almost all perspectives, Saitgits was the best. So I didnt have to think twice over the selection of college. Since the admission was strictly based on higher secondary and entrance examination marks, no interviews followed. Just a 5 minute meeting with pricipal, my guardians accompanied and myself was done. In my higher secondary, I chose science with computer just because I just didn't liked biology well (Science with biology and science with computer were the only two science groups then in my school). But when I started studying, I started loving programming. The logics of programming seemed to be interesting like puzzles. Since I had a luck to choose my own career and write up my own story, Computer Science and Engineering came up as my first choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My department is arguably the best in my college. Because the friendly evironment given to us always encourages us and gives a space to do something out of box. Academics in Saintgits has never been sticked only to the textbooks. Efficent lab facilities and proper guidence by the teachers make the students molded in practical areas. College has always given us opportunities to be familiar with the cutting edge technologies. Periodic idea days has been conducted so that students can submit their papers on some topics or abstract of their dream projects/innovations. Selected ones among them would be supported by the college for the papers to get published on reputed journels, projects to be researched and innovations to be started up. Electives are open for the students and if a subject is chosen by atleast a particular number of students, then the subject is granted and students can go with it.

Internships Opportunities

In our batch the college haven't provided internships. But it organises or helps organising internships from reputed companies

Placement Experience

3.5

Infosys is the major taker from the college. An average of 40-50 students get placed at infosys each year. Usually they get a salary ranging from 25000 to 35000. Many other companies also visits college for placements. Usually an aptitude test followed by GD and/or interview will be conducted. Special training for these are also given in the college from firsr year itself.

College Events

4

College's cultural fest "Nakshatra" is one of the best college fests. Competitive and exhibitional cultural programs will be conducted. "Srishti" is a national level technical fest where over 100 projects from all over India is exhibited and a prize money of 1,00,000INR is given. Technocultural department fests are also conducted yearly

Fee Structure And Facilities

A normal student like me has to pay a total of around 90,000 per annum. Higher ranked students can get a scholarship of 25,000 per annum. And some students with exceptional marks can study there at very cheap rates.

Fees and Financial Aid

College provides a scholarship of 25000 for the students who have scored more than 85% marks in higher secondary. Many other scholarships are also been given out

Hostel Facilities

3

Girls hostel is in the campus itself and boy's hostel is at walkable distance from college. Facilities there are good enough. Rooms are shared by the students of same department so that combine studies are always possible if needed. Yearly rent of 25000 (not sure since I m not residing in hostel) and extra food expenditure will also have to be paid. Food has always been good enough to my knowledge. In case of any inconvenience, students can come up with the complaint and the actions will be taken if necessary

Exam Structure

Exams are being done as per the callender of the university. No much burdens as exams are given. Still frequent test papers will be conducted by each teachers and it seems very good to get revised.

Faculty

4.5

Most of the teachers are higher ranked passed outs. Minimum of 80% marks in both Btech and Mtech are required to join there recent days. Some are appointed to have some special responsibilities too- like experienced ones from industries to make students consulted with the industrial world, experienced and successful entrepreneurs to make innovators from the college to be consulted with etc. Students are always free to interact with students. Everyday, after the normal classes which lasts upto 4:10pm, teachers will be there in their cabins for 30 minutes for the students to come up with any kind of doubts or interactions. Periodic feedbacks are taken from the students via google form on the teaching efficiency of each teachers. Students can also raise complaints against the teachers and if its proven valid, necesaary actions will be taken.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
