Remarks

The college has no campus but it just tells us that if you want to learn you don't need a campus, just good ideas, someone to guide you through and belief in yourself.

Entrance Preview

I passed the National Aptitude Test in Architecture with good marks . Graduation in Architecture was a last minute decision for me. But i found that it was my true calling and i found it interesting and am glad i went ahead with that decision. I wanted to join a government college and had heard that BKPS had a good faculty. So my first choice was BKPS and good marks in NATA helped as i got admission easily.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Architecture is more about applying what you know and what you have learnt. The course syllabus as well as the faculty gave the students complete freedom to explore different techniques, try out different designs etc. In the fourth year of the course we have a choice to study different fields related to Architecture. I was personally interested in Architectural Photography and learnt a lot about the technicality involved in it.

Internships Opportunities

The ninth semester is reserved for internship where you yourself are to send out your CVs to firms and they will select you.

Placement Experience

2

There are no placements carried out in this college. The students after graduation ,either try for higher studies in architecture, urban design, urban planning, landscape architecture ,etc or start working in a firm.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As the college is a government one, it was affordable for the middle and lower middle class people. The average fee every year is close to INR 25000. The reserved category get their benefits as well.

Faculty

2.5

The core faculty has a teaching experience of 10-20 years. With such experience, they know how to get the students interested in the respective subjects and have always been open to discussions, question, new ideas and thoughts. The visiting faculty bring in their personal practical experience in which helps to know the reality of today's architecture .

The reason i choose architecture because it fascinates me how a place can be developed into holistic place interests me . The curriculum has some good inputs but it doesn't make you industry ready extra efforts should be taken to learn advance softwares extra classes newer research etc discussion on advance technology becomes important in modern age how architecture is changing is not discussed

Course Curriculum Overview:

The frequency of exam is twice a semester and good enough. Guest lectures are good and helpful for the future preparation. There must be a change in teaching styles of the faculty and more site based experiments through the course for better understanding than only in class studies , the beauty of historical buldings made me wonder about this course

Placement Experience:

For architecure departments, usually there are no placements, but since this Institute is autonomous, they have startes conducting placements drive. Last year 10/12 students were placed in good firms all over banglore, pune, kolhapur. I plan on applying to different firms all over Maharashtra and would also hope to get placement via college since the packages that are offered are good. Placement percentage is anywhere between 12-15%. The highest package offered was around 5,40,000, average package for a architecture student would be-around 3lakhs.

Placement Experience:

There is no campus placement for architecture students. After completion of the degree, one can apply for jobs or opt for masters. Architects get an average starting salary of 20-25 thousand. The course is pretty expensive including college fees and printing prices. One can also open a private firm and earn enough money. There are very few open students getting placed. My plans after getting a degree are to apply for masters. For a teaching job, one must complete masters.
