Remarks

The ones who want to study and be successful in their life, and also have a taste of culture in them, then it is a very good and suitable college for them. I am a 1st year BSc. Chemistry (Hons) student of V.C.F.W. Our campus consists of three buildings, which is shared by three shifts- morning (only women), day and evening (co-ed). The campus is open to all students with full-facilitated library and computer rooms, along with a cultural environment.

Entrance Preview

Our admission was on the basis of marks obtained in our +2 board examination. The selection depends upon the board you belong to, like West Bengal, ISC, CBSE, open university or any other state board. But for subject like physics there is an entrance examination.

Course Curriculum Overview

My 3-year hons. course is very much useful for those who have the motto to pursue higher studies. The course creates a strong base for future. Once who have completed this 3 years course successfully, have never faced any difficulty in their life. There are many additional courses, that are offered by the college as per the grouped departments.

The fees structure for chemistry(hons) for first year is Rs. 6550/- for the first semester. This was the amount taken during the admission. The fees structure is different for different departments.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides different scholarships for the students. There are merit-cum scholarships and minor categorized scholarships as well. The college is very much cooperative regarding financial issues.

Hostel Facilities

2

Though am not a resident of our college hostel, but being there for few days with my friends for group study, I have learnt that it is like a dorm room offered with 13 beds and individual wardrobe. The hostel is only for women. There are clean and hygienic bathrooms with proper water facility.

Alumni/Alumna

We had met the alumni students, who frequently visit the college and have contributed happily for the future students.

Exam Structure

Other than the university exams, there is mid-term and college test at the end of the year.

Faculty

Our teaching staff are well qualified, and very friendly. They are easy to approach and are very collaborative. Even after class, we are always welcomed by our professors to ask our doubts on related topics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
