Remarks
The college was a tad conservative about the timings, by which one had to return to the hostel. Except for that, don;t think there was any thing detrimental that came across. Overall great!
Entrance Preview
I appeared for CAT 2009, the results of which came out in early 2010. Based on the same, I got a call for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. I was always inclined towards a field which allowed me to explore my creativity, and hence went for Marketing.
Course Curriculum Overview
There were a host of initiatives which encouraged practical learning. I was fortunate to be part of Interface - the Marketing club, CII-Young Indians Mumbai chapter - which frequently conducted events to foster cross-industry learning. In addition to Marketing, we had a host of elective subjects spanning Finance, Operations and HR which gave us a holistic learning experience.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, college provided an internship opportunity. I interned at a transit media organisation at Mulund, Mumbai for 2 months. The average stipend amount was 10K per month.
Placement Experience
Placement scenario in 2012 was good! We had 100% placements. Google, Tally Solutions, Infosys, almost all companies in the ITES sector, Godrej and a lot of heavyweights in FMCG visited campus. Average package was a little over 9 Lakhs.
College Events
We had Melange - the cultural fest, Nostalgia - the alumni fest, and a host of events conducted in association with companies. The average footfall would easily be 2000 per day. College authorities provided full support for such fests and events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Back then, the tuition fees was roughly 3.5 Lakhs for 2 years, and the tuition fees as mentioned below was 2 Lakhs. On an average, the placement figures were roughly 9 Lakhs. For a college consistently ranked in top 20, the fees was extremely economical, and the ROI was great. The placements, I hear, has improved much more than before.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, the college did provide scholarship. I did not avail any scholarship or loan, though.
Campus Life
Absolutely. Was part of the band, was editor of a couple of magazines, participated in culturals. Facilities in place was top class.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, we did reside in the hostel. We were allocated rooms on a triple sharing basis. Although, the room did seem a little small for three people, nobody really had a problem, given the camaraderie! The hostel fees was around 2 Lakhs for 2 years, including the food. Since our college is managed by a Gujarati educational trust, the food provided was strictly vegetarian. However, the biggest advantage was that the campus has various colleges inside it, each with its own mess, and one can have food there as well. For non-veg food, I could go outside and have it.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, as mentioned earlier, we had a regular meetup with alumni at Nostalgia, which was held each year. Alumni contributed, and still contributes, via regular city-wise meet-ups.
Exam Structure
In the initial days yes, as it is a different rhytm, compared to a normal day college or day school. Over and above the classes, the assignments kept us awake till 1 am or 2 am on an average. There were also days, when we finished our work by 12 am, and chilled out till 5 in the morning, which was only made possible, as all of us were in a hostel. Similarly, there were also days when we finished work by 11 pm and slept off, whenever we felt tired. In short, we were pretty much at an independence to follow the time table of our choice.
Faculty
The marketing and finance faculties in particular were highly proficient. Certain faculties, such as Ms. Monica Khanna, Dr. Ghai, were official reviewers of Kotler's Indian edition book for marketing. The classes were less of teaching and more of discussion about live case studies, which made matters interesting and learning fun.
