Likes
- I like the vibe of the campus very much. It is in the outskirts of jamshedpur so the environment is very good here. I also like the newly build academic building of the institute.
- Academic building of the institute is newly build which is fully air conditioned. I like that very much.
- I also like the hostels. Newly build and are very comfortable.
Dislikes
- Some old fashioned professors are there which is not suitable for new pattern of study.
- Attendance system is also not good. You have to go classes daily whether you like it or not.
Course Curriculum Overview
The mechanical Engineering course at NIT Jamshedpur is very good. Experienced faculties are there. They are very qualified and are friendly to the students. I chose mechanical engineering as its placement records are excellent in this institute. Exams are conducted timely.
Internships Opportunities
Major companies are Tata Steels and Tata steel long products. They visit every year in the institute and provide a stipend of about 40k per month. The internship process starts in the third year. Companies also offer PPO to students.
Placement Experience
The placement of this institute is very good, especially in the core sector. In branches like mechanical, civil, and metallurgy more students are getting placed every year. Major recruiters are Tata Steels, Jindal Steels, maruti Suzuki. The average package of mechanical engineering is 10 LPA while the median package is 8 lpa. Almost every student got placed last year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are like other NITs. Fee remission is provided in the institute according to the financial condition of the student. A full fee waiver is provided if the student's family income is less than 1 lakh annually.
Campus Life
Campus life is quite decent here. There are lots of cultural clubs and technical clubs for the students where they can enhance their extracurricular talents. Fests are also organised annually in the institute. A cultural fest called Culfest is organised where famous personalities are called to perform in the institute. Technical fest Ojass is one of the biggest technical fests in the country is organised and a sports fest is also organised in the institute.
Admission
First of all, you have to clear JEE MAIN exam for getting admission to NIT Jamshedpur. After the examination, the counselling process is done through JOSAA portal. You have to fill out NIT Jamshedpur as your choice. Once you got your college through JOSAA then you have to visit the institute for further processes. The admission process is very smooth and yes there are certain reservation benefits like a few waivers provided in the institute.
