Remarks

there is nothing much to say regarding the college because it has got all the facilities what a students wants , located in one of the beautiful cities bangalore , even canteen was good, faculties were good , college environment was also good.

Entrance Preview

i didnt write any entrance exam to get an admission in bangalore university only the exam marks was seen to take up the admission, No interview was done by the college, I was much interested in mathematics so i had to do my M.sc in mathematics and i heard that the college was good so i took up this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

the course curriculum was very good, mathematics an interesting subject which never bores any interested person, actually there was no lab facilities provided wince we had no practical stuff anything like that , our department had the research initiatives undertaken even some of the faculties were involved including some of the students.

Internships Opportunities

no we didnt have any internships to be done neither our future profession required these internships and all, neither i have any idea regarding the stipend amount.

Placement Experience

4.5

there was no placement for the M.sc pursuing students in our college neither any companies visited , i guess only for the commerce course the companies visited to hire the students for my course that time placement was NIL.

College Events

4.5

There were lots of events conducted in our college , both the technical and the cultural, i remember we had conducted an event named mathematica which was the exhibition regarding the subject maths.

Fee Structure And Facilities

at that time it was just 10000INR for the merit students but if students want to take the admission then they had to pay the fees of 50000INR (management seat) , the fees was affordable for both the merit students and the management seats fees was affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

yes college provided the scholarship/loan, i didn't avail any scholarship ,yes college helps many students to get the scholarship if they are falling under the backward classes.

Campus Life

4

yes extra curricular was encouraged in our college almost most of the students got an opportunity to exhibit their talents.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

i didnt stay in the hostel so i dont have much information regarding the hostel , some friends say its good, there were 2,3,4, sharing rooms that's it.

Alumni/Alumna

yes alumni network was pretty much good in our college.

Exam Structure

there were three internals and for the average all the three internal marks were taken, while i was studying there was one subject per one day so it was not tiring and all.

Faculty

4.5

the faculties were good with an Ph.D degree , they well worsed in the subject and regular classes were being conducted it was not like they were strict but yes it all depends on the attitude which you show to them, standard of teaching was also good.

Mysore Medical College And Research Institute - [MMCARI], Master of Surgery [MS] (General Surgery)
Reviewed on Nov 21, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Course Curriculum Overview:

MS General Surgery in MMC was supposed to be the best in Karnataka. But overall, it's not comparable to any top colleges of India. Pros : 1. High OPD patient load. Variety of cases seen. 2. Inpatient load is also good. From 50 to 100 cases on an average per week in any unit. 3. Good OT setup and availability of Laparoscopy. 4. Due to PGs in almost all departments, any emergency was attended to faster and was available for on-call consultation. 5. PGs can attend Regular CMEs conducted in and around Mysore. Cons : 1. Academics is decent at best. Regular classes were canceled for almost the entire 2 yrs. 2. No Regular tests or term exams were conducted nor was there any special interest in research. 4. Surgical hands-on training is given only in the last part of the final year if senior staff allow it. 5. No Laparoscopic training was given. Only handling of instruments is learned. 6. Infrastructure and facilities are limited. 7. Thesis and Exam preparation only in the last 3 to 4 months.

Remarks:

All in all, given the current medical scenario it is a good college for Orthopaedics. If you do not get any well known government hospital, I would rather you take this over a state private hospital as they raise a score of problems later on especially with regards to the fees. The academic part is amazing so even though the patient inflow is slightly less it doesn't hurt as much as you are exposed to every kind of case and surgery in the stream which doesn't happen in government hospitals.

Currently doing M. S orthopedics in Benaroya medical college.
