Remarks

They take our stipend back at the end of the year. Which is illegal. Should not do that.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

We have an internal once every year and finals after 3 years. First year internal is mostly about anatomy, physiology, and refraction. Second year and third year exam syllabus is same. That is entire syllabus of post graduation. Exams are strictly conducted. No cheating and all.

Placement Experience

2.5

It's a medical College. We don't have placements. We pass then we are on our own. We go and apply for jobs or higher studies whatever we are looking for.

College Events

2

I doubt they hold any events. They hold a few conferences or talks every now and then. Medical related. Call a few speakers to speak. But that's all. No extra curriculars. No sports. No inter College events. Nothing as far as I am aware of. Our juniors day it was pretty worse earlier.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's expensive. Plus they take back the stipend that they paid us for three years. According to governement instructions we are entitled to about 45k per month. And I guess if we say anything they will fail us. Hope our junior batches don't have to pay the stipend back atleast.

Fees and Financial Aid

My dad took a student loan on my behalf. From Corporate bank. Which we are supposed to pay in installments I guess once I pass.

Campus Life

3

Don't have much of campus life. Pretty much a serious College where all your supposed to do is to sit and study. Infrastructure is pretty decent. There's sufficient greenery to meet the eyes. Security guards are shitty to talk to and behave like they own the place. Better to visit the place once before taking a call.

Hostel Facilities

2

No. I didn't start in the hostel. For the first two years I stayed in a pg in Kundalahalli area. That area is full of pgs. For the last part of final year I rented a flat in Prestige Shantiniketan in Hoodi.

Alumni/Alumna

Then were fine. But didn't have much interaction. But in general if you ask anyone for advise or help obviously everyone is helpful.

Admission

Appeared for all india pg entrance. They took that rank and gave a karnataka rank. They conducted a counseling on the basis of that. You are supposed to fill your preferences. Then according to your preferences you are allotted seats. Done people accept some people let go of their seats. Then they conduct a second and third round of counseling.

Faculty

3

They are pretty decent. We have seminars every week. In ot also they do teach us quite a bit. They are pretty dedicated and respected individuals. In medical colleges by and far the rule is to learn yourself while doing pg. No one will really conduct classes for you. Some colleges are different. But we'll that's how ours is.

Mysore Medical College And Research Institute - [MMCARI], Master of Surgery [MS] (General Surgery)
Reviewed on Nov 21, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Course Curriculum Overview:

MS General Surgery in MMC was supposed to be the best in Karnataka. But overall, it's not comparable to any top colleges of India. Pros : 1. High OPD patient load. Variety of cases seen. 2. Inpatient load is also good. From 50 to 100 cases on an average per week in any unit. 3. Good OT setup and availability of Laparoscopy. 4. Due to PGs in almost all departments, any emergency was attended to faster and was available for on-call consultation. 5. PGs can attend Regular CMEs conducted in and around Mysore. Cons : 1. Academics is decent at best. Regular classes were canceled for almost the entire 2 yrs. 2. No Regular tests or term exams were conducted nor was there any special interest in research. 4. Surgical hands-on training is given only in the last part of the final year if senior staff allow it. 5. No Laparoscopic training was given. Only handling of instruments is learned. 6. Infrastructure and facilities are limited. 7. Thesis and Exam preparation only in the last 3 to 4 months.

KLE University, M.S. Orthopaedics
Reviewed on Sep 23, 2019

Remarks:

All in all, given the current medical scenario it is a good college for Orthopaedics. If you do not get any well known government hospital, I would rather you take this over a state private hospital as they raise a score of problems later on especially with regards to the fees. The academic part is amazing so even though the patient inflow is slightly less it doesn't hurt as much as you are exposed to every kind of case and surgery in the stream which doesn't happen in government hospitals.

One thing about this college is liked is that it invested its capital for the betterment of patients and also students for example by introducing simulation laboratory which is one of the largest one in whole Asia it's very useful for all students. Currently doing M. S orthopedics in Benaroya medical college.
