Remarks

Oxford college of engineering is the place where theortical stuff is given more prefrence than practical stuff.I want to highlight that by infrastructure should have been little better with the huge campus, in the fore coming days I would suggest the college people to help students to know the subject practically.

Entrance Preview

I got into this college in the year 2103.I wrote the entrance exam PGCET and i secured a ranking of 2300(approx).There was no interview conducted for the admission,we had to just show the PGCET admission order. The reason y i choosed mechanical is from my childhood i was interested in the same.In mechanical further i was droven more to the subject thermal

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Mechanical was an awesome subject to move on with, it was a superb experience, to be a mechanical student. Unfortunately, it was my bad luck that we didn't have much preference given for practical learning, no research initiative was undertaken by institute and there were no much elective provided for us

Internships Opportunities

I did my internship in IIT madras on the concept computational fluid dynamics(CFD) in the thermal branch of iit madras,it was a very good experience over there with the huge cameras, there was no support from the college for the internship.Neither i recieved any stipend amount

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements for the mechanical section/branch was not much since rarely one or two companies visited our college. When i was studying none of the companies visited. The highest paid salary for other branches like MCA and MBA was 5-6 lakh per annum and average package of 3 lakh.

College Events

3.5

There was an event named oxytech which happened once when i was studying.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I have to pay 81,500 INR for one year ,this fees inculded both cet and college fees and it was actually not affordable and was of not so much worth and there was no money/funds given for the projectss purpose in the masters and college fees also includes the internet fees,sports,library...etc.,

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not recieve any scholarship or loan, but the college provides lots of scholarship for the desirable students.

Campus Life

2.5

Our college is not much supportive in terms of extracurricular activity. No i did not get any opportunity to explore my inner talent.Neither there was any facilites provided for the same

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No i didnt stay in hostel, but i heard from the friends that hostel is not upto the mark.only sharing rooms

Alumni/Alumna

No alumni network was not so active in our college..Very rarely our seniors visited our college and shared their experience with us.

Exam Structure

They were 3 internals in a month, out of which best 2 was accpeted. The internals was conducted for 50 marks and it was further reduced to 25 marks before sending it to the unversity

Faculty

3.5

They were two phd holders in thermal subject who had enough experience, for design subject we again two phd holders,2-4 associate professor. Most of the faculties were well qualified and standard of teaching was quite good, our faculties were rarely interactive with the students

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Mtech Thermal Engineering because I was interested in thermal subjects like Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, CFD. The Curriculum is pretty decent and it does covers the fundamentals and advanced topics of the particular subject but it could be better in terms of imparting practical and industrial knowledge. The exams that are held in NITK are competitive and requires a good understanding of the subject. You simply cannot cram and get good marks in exam. You have to know the proper implementation of that particular formula or theory.

Campus placement conditions have improved in IISc after the inception of campus placement cell. Average package is around I would say 25 lpa. Since most of the students go for higher studies from IISc hence, you will see the placement percentage to be low. Personality I am also going for higher studies.
