Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose the course as I liked the subjects of sociology and economics. The faculty: student ratio is 1:40 The college's faculty is well qualified and their teaching methods with modern technology make it easier for students to understand. The end-semester exams occur during December and May June. Mid-semesters occur after a section of the syllabus is over. There might even be two mid-semester exams in a single semester, as well as two assignments PER SUBJECT, which are compulsory to get good marks. Attendance is a critical criterion as the college has a 75% attendance requirement to sit for the end-semester examinations.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There is an internship cell in the University and said cell finds internships for students from the second year. These internships also provide a stipend of up to 15,000 rupees. The internships are based on the subjects students are studying for their degree and therefore, also aid the students in their career in the future.

Placement Experience

4

I have heard from seniors that the placement from college is pretty good, I do not know much as I am in the second year Placement options are received from the beginning of the fifth semester and many large companies come for placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost to study at SJU is comparatively lower than other colleges of such repute and quality of education. Scholarships are also available for economically weaker students for them to finish their education and live a better life. The hostel too, has a scholarship system to aid the economically weaker students financially for their education.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual fests, Visages and Pratibha are a great time to be on campus as a lot of events happen in college. Various other events are occurring all around the calendar hosted by various other associations. The library is huge and has a large array of books and journals for all subjects. Classrooms can fit about 150 students and there are lots of space for students to sit comfortably with their bags. There are also plug points around the classrooms if students have to use their laptops. The college puts a lot of emphasis on sports and extracurricular activities, there is a large field as well as a basketball court and badminton court. Other associations also engage in extracurricular activities for inter and intra-college competitions. There are associations for nearly all the subjects being taught in the college, as well as clubs/associations for extracurricular activities like music, dance, debate, acting, quizzing, etc.

Hostel Facilities

1

The facilities provided in the room are a bed (without mattress), a cupboard and a table with a chair. The quality of meals, especially dinner is of subpar quality. They give a little bit of non-veg food. Breakfast in the hostel is usually the best meal. It is hard to get into the hostel but it is very affordable. There are rooms for 1 person, 2 people and 4 people.

Admission

I applied and they took interviews to find the people applicable. To be eligible for the interviews, you must share your class 10, 11 and (if there) 12th marks card and a few other documents. Interviews happen smoothly and ask questions related to the subjects we take and why we chose this college. If we perform well according to their criteria, then we get an email for admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

- curriculum specially for BA is not like how you see in other universities it's a comprehensive curriculum where your also studying subject like AI learning, data analysis, regional languages and so much more it is a comprehensive course which is not only focusing on your major but also on an overall development of you as a student.. - well we are not only getting in-class lectures but we also have a internal component of internship every year which helps us get an experience of real world situations and job market. -There is one course called numbers we have that could be improved it basically talks about mathematical in economic applications numerical implications particularly which has not been given more thought on it could be more elaborated and structured well. - frequency is high and difficulty is moderate usually.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.

Remarks:

I liked the course provided by this college. The subjects are different for every semester and the aura is splendid. This college provides a very good faculty which not only is good at keeping up with academics, but also is great in keeping a good rapport with their students. There is a whole variety of extra curricular activities which brings out the core personality of every student. I for a fact, had stage fear. But after I chose MIC, I really started getting over it.
