Friendly faculty and calm atmosphere to study
Canteen food is nice and we also have a printout and photocopy shop in the college itself

Dislikes

Not every room is air conditioner. It's unbearable during summer

Course Curriculum Overview

I opted for Masters in English because I have an imaginative mind and i don't see myself doing any other thing. There are around 60 seats for doing masters in Women's College. The faculty are pretty good. Some have done their PHD and it's truly delightful to attend their classes. We have semester based exams which were generally conducted on time. As per the CU Guidelines. It's not difficult to pass if one studies well and shows originality of work and not mug up the answers from their tution teachers also the pass marks is 20 out of 50 per paper.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 18000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is 9000 per semester which I think is pretty alright considering it's semi- government. The college itself doesn't provide any scholarship but I did get Kanyashree K3 scholarship which is a scheme under the state government.

Campus Life

We do have an annual fest and picnic sort of recreation. There are pretty good number of books available in library. I must say it's not enough but one can get a bit of assistance from them. There are some literary groups which are run by students themselves.

Admission

Eligibility for general students is 50 percent in BA and there was no entrance exam as such. I got admitted through the CU counselling process. Yes, there is benefits for reservation category students.

Placement Experience:

Most of the placements that took place at least for the literature departments ended up with people joining educational institutes and NGOs. Very few joined corporate enterprises like Accenture. But it does provide almost a 5 LPA, if well placed. It is academically rigorous, therefore academics are weighed more than industry.

The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for applying for internships after the 3rd semester, and students can apply for placements only after 4th semester. Companies like Ericsson, Ernst and Young, JPMG makes visits our department for mostly analyst roles for economic and fundamental trading decisions. The highest offer made was 45LPA while the average is 7.5LPA. The median pakage is 8LPA. Almost 90% students secure placements after completing their degree since the Training and placement cell is pretty proactive in securing good company visits. I plan for investing and analyst roles in banking companies. I would sit for placements hoping for the same.

Best to find in the least.

The student must have acquired 60 percent in 10+2 standard. The application form is available in the college website. There is no application fees. The application is given out in July . There is 10 percent reservation for OBC SC and ST. The semester exams takes place every 6 months along with internal exams every 2 months. The exams are moderate in difficulty level. Our college provides an auditorium which can accommodate up to 150 students at one go. There is a spacious common room for activities such as indoor games ( chess, carom board, dancing rooms) etc. A separate grievance cell is also there were the students can give their feedback about the college premises/staff in the complaint box.
