Course Curriculum Overview

The subject deals in prose, literacy science, poetry, oral/written communication skills. The course duration is three years and the exam pattern in divided in semesters. The program stress upon literary analysis & diversity skills with subjects such as communicative English, history of English language and phonetics, Shakespeare: Comedies and plays, English fiction, Amrita value program, English drama etc.

Placement Experience

The job areas in B.A English are media & journalism, translators, publishing industry, technical writers, content developers, blogging, teaching and research etc. Most of my batch mates choose the teaching field in various institutions across the country. Other roles which are offered to students are speechwriter/travel writer,/reviewer, public relation officer, arts administrator, communicator, writer/editor/researcher/publisher etc. The average salary can range from 4 lpa to as high as 12 lpa according to the persons writing & communication skills. I exactly don't know if any internships were provided or not.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Total for three years is 7478. This includes the tuition fees, security deposit, insurance fees, admission & registration charges, exam fees etc. The fees is really very nominal if I consider the fee structure with the other big colleges and the facilities provided by them.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students aid fund & scholarship program cater to the needs and requirements of the financially weak students. 100% aid is given to students on merit basis. Bank loans are also available for educational purposes.

Campus Life

The social welfare club of the college motivates the students to take up social activities such as cultural competitions, teaching, giving food/clothing to the children of slum areas. Handicrafts club gives training to students in making soft toys, needle work, indoor decor items, embroideries etc. Annual day is organised in the college every year to give platform for students as well as teachers to bring out their talents. We also have a sports club called Krirangam which encourage students to participate in various indoor and outdoor sports activities and compete with each other at national and state levels.

Admission

The candidate should pass class 12th with 50 % marks from a recognized university.40 % for SC/ST/OBC. The admissions are purely done on merit basis. I had my name in the second merit list with a score of 71% marks and was called for a counselling round after which I was granted admission in the college.

Faculty

4.5

The teachers of our department are well trained and knowledge in their course. Most of them are Masters or Phd holders.Concepts are cleared on the topics relating American literature, introduction to literacy criticism, European fiction and most importantly Shakespeare tragedies. They always provide us a helping hand in any need of stress and motivate us in shaping our future.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.
