Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose the course because of my vast interest in chemistry and the workings around it. Faculty to student ratio is around 1:60 All faculty are PhD scholars with at least 5 to 10 years of teaching experience and the teaching methods used include both online, offline and digital and practical methods. Exams are held every 1 and a half months once in the order of CAT1, CAT2 and finally FAT, the exams are definitely not easy to clear but are not impossible either.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students are eligible for campus placement for 3rd year/6th semester almost every student who shows up for campus placement is offered a job and the college has some of the highest placements. The highest package as per my knowledge is 1.02 crores and the average package is about 7lakh per annum. The percentage of students getting placed is almost 100%. I plan on pursuing my PhD and then my post-doctorate.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are not hiked but stay consistent the fees are paid every semester and each semester lasts for 6 months. I did not get any scholarship but when I passed out, I was offered a pay of 8lakhs per annum as a research assistant.

Campus Life

4.5

We have 2 fests every year, the technical fest in the month of September and October, and the cultural fest in the month of February. The library is very vast and has all the required reference books and journals and the e-library for access from anywhere. Classrooms have projectors and smart boards. All kinds of sports and their respective grounds and courts are also available. There are multiple social groups and clubs some for social awareness and research and robotics and culture. Some of them are Sigma XI, Robovitcs, Gurutva, and VIT MUN society.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Rooms are differentiated between AC and non AC, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 bed options. Food can be available in either paid or free mess the free mess is basically a pre paid mess while the paid mess is one in which you are given credits and you need to use those to buy the food of your choice, the food is decent and nothing to complain about. The registration of the hostel is also done online along with the college and the payment also done online the 1, 2 and 3 is slightly costly however the other options are a lot more affordable. I was in the hostel and therefore I am unaware of the availability of PG or rented rooms

Admission

For my course there is no entrance examination instead it is based of our 12th-grade pass-out marks. The application form and all other details about the course, similar courses and the fee details and fee structure can be found on the official website of Vellore Institute of Technology website under the courses options. I did not avail of any Reservation benefits. The admission process is highly streamlined and efficient the only part where some people had trouble was when they had to pay the fees online which turned out to be harder than expected.

Actually I am currently in seconnd semester right now, I am not sure about the eligiblity criteria for campus placements. But I gathered some informations about the placement process with the help of students who completed their degree here recently. Most of the students having skills in demand based on the company requirements will get selected. Companies with good reputation will visit during campus placements. My aim was to getting placed in a company with good reputation and descent salary package.
