Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course because I was more interested in learning about computer hardware and software. I was more into coding and computer languages. The faculty is very helpful and have a thorough knowledge of the course they teach. First two years they follow the timetable and course syllabus and teach the students properly and complete the course on time. When it comes to the last year teachers are least bothered about the syllabus and they expect us to study most of the portions by ourselves. During covid times we had offline exams where we had to go to the college and appear for the exams there in the college. Study leaves were less during the covid days (last two years of course). Portions were not fully covered for some of the subjects during the pandemic. Classes were online.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students are eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester of their B.Tech course. Several companies such as TCS, SOTI, Wipro, Cognizant, IBM, etc visit the college and offer many eligible students jobs. Almost every student who appears for the interview gets an offer if he/she has no arrears/backlogs left to complete.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are normal when compared to other colleges affiliated with KTU. Students applying for the NRI quota have a higher fee structure than the others. Students with a KEAM rank of less than 10K are most likely to get a lesser fee structure and higher priority for admission. No financial assistance or job is offered by the institution.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual fest which is the "Azure" is conducted mostly anytime between February-march every year and the tech fest "Astra" is conducted anytime during the month of September- November. All types of books are available in the library. Various journals and textbooks related to different courses are available to all the students and staff of the institution. Classrooms are furnished with benches and desks with a whiteboard, table and chair for the teacher. Some classes are also under CCTV surveillance. Computer science and IT labs are fully air-conditioned. Basketball courts, badminton courts and a normal football court are available inside the campus. Different clubs for music, dance and other activities are open for students with related skills to apply.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel is situated in a separate building nearby the college campus itself. Ladies hostel is a bit far away from the college (almost 1km). The hostel mess food is not as good as what they serve in the college canteen but the canteen is more hygenic and clean all the time. The college's mess and canteen is one of the best infrastructure in the district when compared to other colleges. All types of south indian dishes are available in the canteen. The mess menu is different when compared to the canteen. The food which they serve in mess is of lower quality (hostel food). PG/Hostels are available nearby the college campus at a reasonable rate for ladies and gents.

Admission

The eligibility for the B.Tech course in Amal Jyothi College is to have completed 12th standard in any of the syllabi (either state/CBSE/ICSE etc). Students with a higher percentage of marks have a separate quota to enter college. Students from outside India also have a separate quota where they have a different fee structure. Sports quota was also available where students get free admission. In order to enter the college they basically check the KEAM(Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) exam rank. Students who have higher ranks have a higher priority to get admission. Reservation benefits are also available which affects the fee structure.

Placement Experience:

Placements cells are supportive in terms of networking with different companies and are readily active for the students competing in getting internships and placements. The college has a tie up with different companies like Infosys , Wipro , Deloitte , IBM , NVIDIA , Deshaw Private Limited etc. Students become eligible from semester 5 onwards for on campus placements. The offers made by these companies are 8 LPA to 9 LPA by deloitte , innfosys , and IBM but the highest package is being offered by Deshaw and NVIDIA that is 60 LPA and 47 LPA. The average package is around 11 LPA and the percentage of students getting placed are above 80%. My plan after getting the degree is to work for an IT Company to get the hands on knowledge about what the current technologies demand and get experienced in that and work further upon it.

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the. I'll be aiming for higher educations most probably
