Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum is on par with other IIMs. Classes are primarily based on case studies and discussions. Faculty comes from diverse backgrounds with diverse teaching and Industry backgrounds helping students simplify the complexity of the business world.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like ICICI, Schindler, Optum, HDFC, Zycus, etc., were hired for summer internships. Projects change depending on the industry and the need of the company. One will get to learn a lot through the internship experience.
Placement Experience
Campus Placements start from the 4th semester onwards. There were a total of 239 students to be placed. One hundred twenty-six companies came to the campus with 246 offers. The highest CTC stood at 64 LPA, while the average and median stood at 16.43 LPA and 15.35 LPA, respectively. The average package increased by over 19% this year. The average for freshers was 15.5 LPA, whereas for experienced candidates, it was 20 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees were hiked this year by 10-15 percent. Some scholarships are available depending on the schemes of the central and state governments and the policies of those scholarships. Like Merit, cum Means scholarships for SC, ST or Minority, etc. There are no jobs available on campus tho. Its a full time program and doesn't leave much room for work.
Campus Life
IIM Jammu has a vibrant social life. There are various clubs and committees that students can be part of. There is also a student council, and elections are held yearly to elect various representatives. Clubs are both Academic and Non-Academic. There are various sports played; tournaments are held multiple times a year. Students represent the institute in competitions of other IIMs as well. There is an HR conclave that is held yearly and is organized by IIC. Then there is Empyrean, the Annual fest of IIM Jammu. Social life is very vibrant in IIM Jammu.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are decent. With the move to the permanent campus this year, every student would get his personal single-sharing AC room. Food quality and variety are also good. Food costs about 188 Rs per day.
Admission
Getting admitted into IIMJammu is fairly straight, like any other IIM. You register for CAT. The registration usually happens in Aug-Sep. The Exam is conducted in the last week of November. The results will be out in Jan. You get calls for the personal interview. The overall selection happens based on the interview, CAT score, Graduation marks, Class 12th marks, and Class 10th marks. The General Cutoff to get a call for an interview is 90%. IIM Jammu gets admitted based on CAP and SAP. These are two separate processes to shortlist candidates for interviews.
Interview Experience
The admission criteria are already discussed. CAT has three sections: Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, and Quantitative Aptitude. The Interview revolves around the candidate's profile and also involves questions about General Knowledge and what the interviewer feels like on that day.
