IIMs are more than just placements

MBA from IIM Lucknow is rigorous academics & offers good placement opportunities. The course allows us to choose multiple specialization & you need 3-6 credits for a specialization in the second year. The courses are allotted through bidding process. There are about 90+ faculty members for about 600 students. That means 1 teacher for every 6/7 students. Classes are held in section of 60-70 students. All faculty must have Phd Degrees & some even have corporate & startup experiences in India & abroad. Most teachers have phds from top Indian colleges. Teaching method depends on course & faculty. Problem-solving & class participation is encouraged. Most teaching happens through presentations in classrooms. Necessary class activities are conducted mostly in HR courses. Case studies are given for a read & discussion or presentation is done in class. Mid-term & end term exams occur at a cap of 1.5 months. It depends on subjects & most are easy-medium to pass.

Average Stipend of 2.3 lacs per month. I was offered a role with EY & worked in the wealth management space where I helped the client launch their fintech platform. Stipend was 1 lac per month. The role offered was management consulting.

Summer placement occurs during the month of September i.e. term 1. Lateral placement & final placements occur in Term 5 & 6 respectively. College has 100% placements. Most top companies like BCG, McKinsey, HUL, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, JP Morgan, Citi Bank, Colgate, Accenture, Uber, Adani, TAS, Jio digital, Salesforce etc hired from campus. Accenture hired 36, BCG 24, Deloitte 22, PWC 22, McKinsey 18, EY 15, HDFC 15, Amazon 14, Bain 13, Vedanta 9, Pidilite 8 etc. Highest package ofbusiness 1 crore. Average package 32.2 lacs per annum. My plans after degree is to join job I get from campus.

Total fee of 21.5 lacs is to be paid over a course of 2 years. It is paid every term before registration. Mess charges are separate usual 50-60k per annum. Scholarship are offered by different organisations like Aditya Birla, Citi Bank, mirae assets, IDBI bank etc based on profile & ews status & other govt scholarship. Fee gets hiked gradually but the current & last batch has the same fee. Earlier it was 17.5 lacs. I got an internship with a big 4 consulting firm with a stipend of 1 lacs per month. Average college Stipend is 2.3 lacs per month for internship. CBI & SBI banks have branches in college & offer easy loan to students with good payment terms.

Campus life is great thanks to a culture of hostels & clubs. The annual fest is called Manfest Varchasv & conducted in the month of Feb. It has business events, sports & cultural events. Most books are included in the fee & given to students after registration. Most famous journals & data centres are available in the college library. Classrooms have stair design, with AC, white & blackboard, projectors, mic, cameras, comfortable seats etc. Most sports & even unique ones like frisbee, handball, and futsal is available with multiple grounds & courts. The college has 40+ clubs & academic groups for each specialization & another committee like admission, mess etc. All social clubs have their social media accounts but not websites. Most hostels are old and 3 stories each. Two boys' hostel are new with better amenities. Sports & entertainment facilities are available in hostels. Basic like fans, beds, tables, almirahs, water coolers, and washing machines are available in hostels. The food in IIM Lucknow is better compared to other MBA colleges. The menu is very extensive with 4 meals a day including 4 vegetables or dals during lunch or dinner; fruits & desserts, it also accounts for regional specialities. Special theme dinners are also organised by the mess committee. No registration process for a hostel. Rooms are allotted & you get keys when you join College. 18 hostels are available in the college. The only con is the distance from classes for some hostels.

Students need to take CAT exam, based on a composite score (60% CAT, 10% 12th & graduation each, 10% work experience, 5 each for academic & gender diversity) shortlists are given for interview. The minimum cutoff is 85%ile in sectionals & overall 90%ile in cat exam. The cutoff is usually about 50+ composite score for interview calls for general category students. Eligibility - Cat exam, must be in final year at time of interview or passed out from a degree course. No separate application form initially, only CAT application. Post the release of interview shortlist, students need to submit a detailed application which includes basic details & a SOP statement. It is available on the admission dashboard on IIM Lucknow website. Post the interview, final admission list is released on IIM Lucknow website & waitlist movement happens. The entire process was smooth however there is lot of confusion regarding waitlist movement & one has to call admission office for details.
