Remarks
Overall its a good engineering college when compared to all the others under MU. But they really have to think about the college hours and schedule because its just too much for students and faculty. This can be one of a huge factor to not select this college.
Entrance Preview
CET (Common Entrance Test) 159/200 Because this college had a good infrastructure and resources. The admission process is pretty smooth as they have their own admission process
Course Curriculum Overview
The MU course curriculum is what is followed here. And it is a bit out dated. Also, my college itself follows this curriculum so there is only marks oriented knowledge, no motivation for practical exposure. But I had seen other colleges. Compared to that the labs and resources were quite good.
Internships Opportunities
NO. Again same old thing. Attendance requirements according to the MU guidelines never has an encouraging environment for internships.
Placement Experience
When compared to other MU colleges around, my college really had a good placement record. Of course most of them would end up with mass recruiting IT companies irrespective of your discipline, but few did get chance at higher paid and better job roles. The highest paid job during my batch was 13 lakhs per annum. The average will still be as low as 3.5 lakhs per annum.
College Events
Annual day - Dance, award distribution, intra collegiate competitive events etc Technical fest - Project expos, technical events and courses. Non Technical fest- Dance, music, clean up drives Sports fest - intra collegiate and inter collegiate Festive days.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is one of the most expensive colleges under MU. The fees was around 1.20 lakhs per year when I was there. It keeps changing every year and the above is average. On this you have other lab and gym expenses, stationary expenses, exam expenses, etc. You do have some scholarships around though to try.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are scholarships available from the college and from private trusts outside. There are only 2 scholarships from the college till I remember. The private scholarships are much better and more merit based, like JRD tata scholarship that I got for 2 years for my academic performance.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is dependent on the discipline. Overall I would say 60-40 boys-girls. You will see students from virar to townies from ghatkopar. So it has a very mixed crowd and culture and everyone is friendly, There has been no cases of ragging. Labs and sports are also at a good level, but the college doesn't have any campus or ground around.
Hostel Facilities
There is no college hostel. The cafeteria was just ok, with food quality also not that great. The seating was limited as well. But it seems to have been renovated now and now its more like a luxury restaurant and it kills the feel of an engineering college canteen!
Alumni/Alumna
They network is quite huge and strong. Efforts are always made from the college faculty to keep in touch with the alumni and are often given a platform to come back and speak to the new batch students.
Exam Structure
You have two midterms and one final each semester. total of 8 semesters. The first and last year exams are controlled by MU and the second and third year by the college itself. So you basically score in the second and third year the most. The paper correction in MU is pathetic and even if you are a born scholar, you can fail.
Admission
The admission process is pretty smooth as they have their own admission process. They have two quotas- open and Gujarati. I wanted into Electronics and I got it right away in the first round. The admission process does go up to 4 rounds till all seats are filled.
