Remarks
College management is very good. There was no inefficiency reagarding working of it.
Entrance Preview
There is no entrance for admission in b.com in any college of Panjab University. Admission is purely on the basis of Merit list. At my time there was no centralised counselling as it is now nor there is any interview.
Course Curriculum Overview
Panjab University's curriculum is good. It covers many subjects which are necessary for imparting knowledge regarding various subjects like Banking, Maths, Stats, Audit etc. But there is less stress on research. There wasn't any particular focus. All of the syllabi was related to many other fields.
Internships Opportunities
No, this college does not provide any internship. If anyone wants to persue, it has to be on individual level. Many institutions provide summer training programmes.
Placement Experience
There weren't many placements at time I passed out. From over a batch of 120 students only 5-10 students got placement and that too in Call Centers. Packages weren't that great too But now it would have been improved. I don't know about the current trends.
College Events
Youth festivals, farewell parties, excursion trips, Annual functions happened every year which give students time to interact with faculty. And it was great. Participation was good from students too. But were no Management festivals or any other study related activity.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee Structure- Feasible. As it is a government college, fee was well within the reach. As far as I can remember, its was only 8000 per year. I don't know about the hostel fee as i was a local staying with family. And keeping in mind the fees, the college facilities were very good.
Fees and Financial Aid
No there was no scholarship or loan facility in college. Fee was deposited twice a year, so it was divided and there was no difficulty in that regard.
Campus Life
When I passed out it was only Girls college. So there is no question about gender ratio. But yes students came from different parts of India to study. There was no problem for minority religion students. There were sports team too like volleyball, basketball, etc.
Hostel Facilities
As I have mentioned, I was a local so I have no idea about any of the hostel facilities. I didn't heard of any complaints from fellow students staying in hostel. They were allowed to go outside for two days in a week and be back by 8 P.M. As it funded y government so fee should be within reach.
Alumni/Alumna
I had no alumni network. I knew some of my seniors because of engagements at excursion trips or at farewell parties.
Exam Structure
When I was pursuing my graduation, we had the yearly system. So exams held 3 times, but class tests held at regular intervals. College timings were from 9 to 2, so was not hectic. Final examinations held in April. As most of B.Com is based on theory, so there were no labs.
Admission
Admission was simple enough at that time. Just take the prospectus and fill out the form. Then on merit list of individual college used to be out and then you can choose among colleges. Admission procedure was also simple enough and faculty helped too.
Faculty
Faculty was helpful indeed right till the graduation ceremony. Mr Pradeep who was company law lecturer. Also Mr Naveen Pandhi taught us Direct Tax. They both were experts in their fields. Otherwise HOD was also helpful in solving other queries too. I never had any problem with any of the faculty.
