Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is absurd, you need to study Engineering Mechanics in your 2nd year 2 semester which is weird for an ECE student. The reason to choose this course is that this branch is considered evergreen and you can go for both core jobs as well as non-core IT sector jobs. The ratio of faculty to student is not very good, especially in our department. There are many TPs and sometimes 1 teaches 2 subjects in the same semester. The exams are held once a month, on average one semester is of 4 months, so 2 prefinals, 1 lab final, and 1 final external examination take place.
Internships Opportunities
This year ITC private ltd. organized an internship program with a paid stipend of 10,000. Also, various government internship programs in the core area are held but they only 1-2 students from each branch with high CGPAs. Every year you have to do Industrial training by yourself during the summer break, no college doesn't help you with this. Make sure you do your internship or training in the summer break itself because after that there is an attendance issue if you miss classes.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, the students are eligible to sit in on-campus placements. The companies that usually visit are Mahindra, TCS, ITC, TATA motors, Byjus, unacademy, Infosys, Larsen & Turbo. The highest package offered this year of 18 lakhs per annum is offered to 2 students one from the IT department and the other from computer engineering department . The average package is 6-7 lakhs per annum. The total percentage of students placed is 60% from this college in different companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
As this is a government college so the fees are quite affordable as compared to other private colleges. On average 50,000 Rs. tuition fees per year are there. And if you live in a hostel then a total of 30,000 extra charges are there. There is a website national scholarship portal (nsp) where you can apply for a scholarship if your annual family income is less than certain criteria, and almost everyone get scholarship worth 50,000 from here. Also if your jee rank was very good then during the admission process, you can apply for the TUITION FEE WAIVER (TWF) where your tuition fee will be relaxed.
Campus Life
There is several events that take place in the university as every college has its traditional events. IN COT we have a national-level technical fest COLLOSEUM which is 3 days 3-night event in which many events and competitions like web design, robotics, and dumb charades are organized with some other branch events. There is a celebrity night in which for the past few years big stars like Darshan Raval, gajendra Verma have performed and pretty sure this year Ankit Tiwari is gonna performed. You can get all your curriculum books from the library itself free of cost till your semester ends. There is a big stadium in which multiple games can be played like volleyball, cricket, football, badminton, and many others. There are also sports events like Spardha, The athletic meet in which you compete with other university students. Also time to time many interhostel competitions are held.
Admission
The admission is through your JEE MAINS rank and there are also admission for Jammu & Kashmir students through the PMSSS scheme in which their admission is through their class 12 percentage. The eligibility for this course is that you should have given JEE MAINS exams and in your 11 and 12, you should be having PCM subjects. The admission is done through UTU counseling not the JOSHAA counseling and the fees for participating is 1000 Rs. The counseling is usually before JOSHAA and once you get to any branch in college, for confirming your seat you need to be physically present in the college and fill out the form, and deposit the admission money which is usually 35,000 Rs. as a demand draft. A total of 3 days is given to you for document preparation. There are reservations of the Airforce , the army, and other subcategories.
