Remarks

Overall college experience was very good, but political activities were at max, which I think should be stopped or should be at some low extent. College management was a bit lazy, but is good in some conditions.

Entrance Preview

There were no entrance exams. But admission was through cutoff percentage of class 12th. I got 85.2% in Class 12th exams. At that cutoff, I was getting admission in Deshbandhu College, Ramanujan College, PGDAV College, Aurobindo College and many more were there. I chose deshbandhu because of its ranking, it was ranked 8th among Delhi and 28th in India in Science colleges by India Today Ranking.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum was set by University of Delhi. But it was very good and it was very apt and suitable for various entrance examinations such as CSIR-NET, IIT JAM, IISER, IISc, UPSC OPTIONAL MAINS SYLLABUS, and many more. Due to this course structure, we study many more things which was taught in PG in many Universities or Colleges.

Internships Opportunities

My college does not provide internships directly by inviting companies, but they keep posters of internships available on the notice board. Interested students can look at them and apply.

Placement Experience

2

Placement was not very good. But many students wanted to continue further in higher studies, so did well. Many companies visited Deshbandhu College and nearly 40-50 students were placed out of 200-300 interested. Students placed were offered 3-8 lakhs per annum.

College Events

4.5

There were many many events carried out by different societies and departments throughout the year. Deshbandhu College has its big event SABRANG every year, in which students from different universities and colleges take part. It was a three day long festival ending with a starry night. During my college days, the celebrity guest who visited my college are Mohit Chauhan, Badshah, Neha Kakkar.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible. One has to pay nearly Rs 7000 rupees as annual fees. And them twice in year nearly Rs 1000 as examination fees. Overall one has to pay roughly Rs 10000 in a year. To support financially weak colleges also provided stipend of Rs 5000 to needy students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility was not required. Since fee is very low and is feasible for each and every student studying there. However, for financially weak students a monthly stipend is provided. A branch of Punjab & Sindh Bank was available in the vicinity of college. But I have never visited it for loan.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life was the best part there. Gender ratio was good. But in maths courses it was fairly poor. But in courses like English, Economics, Commerce, Chemistry has higher number of girls students than male students , which balances overall gender ratio of the college. About diversity, students come from many parts of country, however most of them are from adjoining states to capital, Rajsthan (around 6-7%), Uttar Pradesh (30-35%), Haryana (25-30%), and also from Bihar (20-25%), North Eastern States (4-5%), and NCR region (6-7%) . Politics was the worst part of the college which I think ruined the good atmosphere of the college. During election time, one can witness students(rarely from college, most of them were outsiders from Govindpuri, came for some money or some party) rallying in college campus. Many of them also started roaming in the corridors distracting other students whose classes are going on.

Hostel Facilities

3

There were no hostel facilities available in Deshbandhu College. However work is in progress on a Women's hostel. For food, college has a canteen. It is run by a private vendor offered through a contract. Food at that canteen was good(not very good) and affordable for students. Many other food stalls and Restaurants were available in the vicinity of college.

Alumni/Alumna

I was not much interactive to students, whether it was seniors, juniors, or my fellow classmates. But there was no alumni network as official in many colleges, which I think is must for a college. I rarely no any one of my seniors, which I think is a fault of mine. However, some of my friends who knows seniors are good friends of them and they helped them a lot and are good friends.

Exam Structure

Deshbandhu College follows University Rules for examination and exams were good. Semester was followed by the University and hence by College. Exams were conducted during Nov-Dec and May, twice in a year. Schedule for examinations were very good. We had at least three to five days gap between two examinations.

Admission

For admissions, after cutoffs were out I went to college. Timing for admission was from 9 am to 1 pm. within 3 days of declaration of cutoff. I reached maths department and there I got admission form after verification of original documents. After filling that form, I submitted that form along with original documents(documents will be returned later). Then I got a receipt of admission and then went to bank available in the campus itself to pay the fees, which was Rs 7120.. After payment was done, I got fee receipt , which means my admission process was over.

Faculty

4

Faculty available at Deshbandhu College, are very good, motivated, and willing serve students at any point of time. Regarding Qualifications, most of them have Post Graduation and are NET qualified. Many of them are Phds and even some of them are registered as Phd Candidate. Overall, there teaching was very good and teachers motivated us.
