Remarks

The administrative department is very inefficient, any official works which only requires 15 minutes could take up to few days which hamper our day-to-day research schedule.

Entrance Preview

I am a foreign student. I did not take any JEE or GATE score, I enter IITB through ICCR scholarship. This is one of the premier institutes of the country.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is quite in-depth. There are course projects related to the subject assigned to the students in order to have the students acquainted with the concept of research. The students are encouraged to read research papers and come up with innovative yet useful ideas to work on which will have an impact on our daily life.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, internship opportunities are provided. Most of the time, the best companies in every domain will be invited to a provided internships for IITB students. Some of the top companies are SAMSUNG, Google, Ola, Schlumberger, Flipkart, etc. The general stipend comes around Rs 15k to 18k.

Placement Experience

3.5

Last year's placement was very low, but generally, around 70% of the students were placed. Sysmex 20 laks per annum Rakuten 60 laks per annum Scrum Berger 28 lakhs per annum Unilever Microsoft Deutsche Bank GM Texas Instrument JP Morgan Chase Goldman Sachs Diamond Facebook Citibank Credit Suisse Blackstone Qualcomm Morgan Stanley

College Events

4.5

Annual technical fest - tech fest Cultural fest- Mood indigo (happening in December, is the largest cultural fest in Asia); Gyrations (inter-hostel dance competition); Performing Arts Festival (PAF); Entrepreneurship- E cell Summit organized every year in order to promote business and management skills among the students

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is quite expensive. Mess fees themselves rise from Rs13k to Rs20k per semester within 4 years. On top of that, undergrad students have to pay up to lakhs for semester fees, it becomes a burden to the students. Even though scholarships are provided, but not every student is eligible for the scholarship, else the amount of scholarship may not be sufficient to cover the increasing fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarship opportunities for all students facing financial problems. Otherwise, allowance or stipend is usually provided to the postgraduate and doctorate students

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio- 7:3 (boys: girls) IITB is quite tolerant of all religions, beliefs. IITB strongly believes in inequality among students. Dorm parties/hostel parties are organized from time to time in order to release academic stress, tension and also improve interpersonal relationship

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Rooms are very small, mostly sharing, in very rare cases, a single room shall be provided. The average room rentals are around Rs7000, which is relatively expensive with respect to the size of the room. In some cases, especially among the UGs, a twin sharing room will be provided for the sophomores and seniors students.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni and senior students have been helpful all this while. They help us with books, scholarships, sharing personal experiences, and helping us prepare better for our future.

Exam Structure

There were almost daily and also weekly assignments which always keep you on your toes. On top of that, there are quizzes, both surprise and scheduled, so you have to be very updated with the study materials all the time. Halfway through the semester there is a mid sem examination and followed by the end sem, all these excluding six hours of continuous standing for lab work. Lab reports are expected by the following week. Most courses are hectic, spare a few depending on the professor.

Admission

My application was done through the ICCR scholarship. The application forms are downloadable from the ICCR official website. Notification about the scholarship can be found on the ICCR website itself. Once selected for the institute or university of your choice, ICCR will send a notification. IITB has been helpful towards all of us foreign students as well.

Faculty

4.5

Faculties are basically not only very well knowledge in their respective domain, but also knowledge of other domains as well, most of them received their degree from some of the top universities in the US especially. Most of the faculties are very dedicated in their teachings, hardly late to class, which took me by surprise. Although most of the course materials or ppts were prepared by teaching assistants ( who are also students), all the materials provided were cross-checked by faculties. Some faculties are extremely hard working, students are also trained on critical thinking in approaching every problem rather than just spoon-feeding on certain subjects.

Placement Experience:

In the last semester of the course, students are eligible for placements on campus. The pharma, textile, and chemical-related industries are the key recruiters in the campus. In my best knowledge, there is the highest package offered by a company to the student is 18L p.a. Approximately 75% of students get placed in the campus placements. I will go for my higher studies.
