Life At IITD

The course curriculum is well planned and consist of topics closely associated to the branch. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:10. The faculty is extremely well qualified and highly experienced in their respective fields. The teaching varies from professor to professor. Most professors have average teaching methods.

Campus placements take place in the 7th semester. Various companies, both international and Indian visit the campus during placements. This year, 600 students received offers during campus placements. The highest package was 3 crore and the average is at around 10 lakh. My plans after the degree aren't compeletely decided yet.

There was a minor hike in the fee recently. However, the total fee that is charged per semester is not at all high. I did not received any scholarship or financial assistance on campus. Moreover, placements for my batch have not happened yet and will happen in the 7th semester.

Rendezvous is the Cultural Festival of IIT Delhi and is held annually in March. The Technical test of IITD is called Tryst. The collection of books in the library is good. Books from a variety of subjects are available. Almost all sports facilities are available on campus. Multiple cultural clubs including Dance, Drama, Debating, Music, etc also exist. The cultural clubs of IITD are largely run by the students. The competitions, both internal and external are organised by the society.

The hostel facilities are not too great, since the hostels are very old. The meals vary from day to day and meal to meal, but on an average the meals served aren't too great. The hostels are affordable and are allocated to students randomly. Moreover, the hostel remains the same for one's entire residence at IITD.

I took the JEE Advanced exam in 2021, which is used for the admission process to all IITs. The rank holders having a rank below nearly 5k are eligible for admission to IIT Delhi. Chemical Engineering at IITD closes at a rank of around 2.5K. The application form, dates and other important details regarding the examination are available on the JEE Advanced official website.
