Course Curriculum Overview
The course is hectic but fun. The first, two terms are extremely tiring. I have pulled all-nighters to complete assignments. But all in all, it has been a wonderful experience. This is what I expected from a b-school and IMT delivered. The college has hands down the best faculty. We can approach them, speak to them and even do projects under them. There are faculty with experience from companies like Zydus, and J&J. Different facilities have different personalities and methodologies of teaching. There is no set procedure and this makes it fun for the professor as well as the student. A case learning is a big deal here. Everyone is expected to do their pre-read. Class participation is taken very seriously, especially in marketing classes. Some faculty are very young some are very old but all are hardworking and take their job seriously.
Internships Opportunities
Cisco - Rs 1.1 lakh per month, HDFC cedilla - Rs 50k per month, Of business -Rs 50k per month, Mother dairy - Rs 30k per month, Perno Richard - Rs 2lakh per month. Companies come with stipends ranging from 20k to 2 lakh per month. Roles are mostly in sales. Some roles are marketing research and brand. Some roles are of general management. Competition is very high. It's hard to get an internship. Sometimes it can take up to 13 interviews. Few people crack it in the first go also. It all depends on luck.
Placement Experience
Placements happen on campus. Companies that come are listed on the website. The placements committee drives the placements. Most students get placed. If you are good enough you will be placed. So it's the student's responsibility to study and build their CV ..then their placement will happen. College gives multiple opportunities even up to 15 to get placed. After getting my degrees I plan to build my career in the direction of brand management in an FMCG company. IMT is one of the meccas of Marketing and a marketing student will always remain optimistic about their future if they choose IMT
Fees and Financial Aid
Girl students get some scholarships worth 1 lakh. On a merit basis, there are some scholarship criteria. Fees are 19.5 lakhs. This is appropriate as it includes living, 3-time meals plus 1-time snack, and our tuition fee. I didn't take any financial assistance but HDFC cedilla is a favorite among many students. Since the average salary is 15 lakhs hence the fees seem justifiable. Also, the Library, finance labs, and IT labs are wonderful.
Campus Life
IMT is full of fests. All clubs and committees organize their events. We have Passion ( Dec), chakravyuh( Feb ), the joy of giving(Feb), flames (nov), etc. There are numerous books in the library. If there is something that we want we can also ask the librarian to purchase it. We have a finance lab with Bloomberg in it. It is an excellent data source. The classrooms are good. We have AC and heaters. A standard board and projector. The chairs are comfortable. We have amenities for basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, and table tennis. The sports committee takes its job very seriously. Since IMT is a student-run body every one is involved in all activities. All clubs are run by students. We have official clubs like markup, finesse, itac, e-cell, make a difference foundation, and prism and we have commitments - student council, admission, academic, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are decent. Boys have an advantage as they have a new building. All washrooms are common. Sometimes they are not washed on time. We have an AC in our rooms. The hostel fees are included in the overall fees. A cleaning lady comes 2 times a week to clean the room. Pest control and washing of the water cooler occur on regular basis. The hygiene factors can be improved. The library remains open at 4 am and we also have a Nescafe coffee shop which also remains open all night long.
Admission
It was a smooth process. I gave CAT and got 90 percentile. IMT values diversity. I had to fill out their form which is detailed and very long but it is appropriate as the need to understand if the candidate is suitable to study here. I got a mail telling me that I need to give the interview as my application has been selected. The whole process occurred seamlessly. Issues were addressed by the very prompt chat system. Also, there was an option for students with high work experience, diversity, and work experience in good companies. This kind of admission process attracts people from different places. We have a good diverse batch. In my class we have engineers, commerce science, and arts graduates, we also have a lawyer and people who had done their Mtech.
Interview Experience
The interview was more like a casual conversation. We were speaking about marketing and how it has an impact on our lives. The criteria they choose me on was that I had already worked in an FMCG and understood the basics of marketing. Also, I have a post-grad degree in packaging from the Indian Institute of Packaging Mumbai. My diverse background was something that they appreciated. I prepared by taking coaching from Time Coaching in Pune ( kharadi ). During the interview, i and my whole family were down with Covid yet I didn't feel the pressure because the interviewers were very comforting. The interviewers wanted to know my reasons to leave my job and join a b-school. They asked basic questions which were relevant to marketing. In other interviews with NMIMS and IIM Sambalpur I felt that the interviewers were asking irrelevant questions revolving around random GK.
