Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as it is a core subject which has many industrial benefits. Most of the subjects are the same as that of mechanical engineering so you gain knowledge of both the branches. There are 15 faculty for every 32 students and they are very well-qualified. Few of them have worked in IITs and have graduated from NITs as well. Most of them have a Doctorate and not only just Mtech. The HOD is very supportive and all other staff members are supportive as well. All the doubts are listened to and cleared. There are 2 unit tests in each semester and 1 final sem-end exam. The unit test carries 20 marks each and the sem end with 60 marks. There are Project-based learning, no assignments, and practicals are done regularly in college. As the university is deemed the exam is not very tough to pass and one can easily score good marks if he/she attains college regularly.
Placement Experience
The college has good placement. For Computer and IT students getting placement is easy and the starting package is 3.2 Lac but for students from core branches, getting placement is somewhat difficult from the campus so they need to try off campus. Still, they can get placement in TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO, etc from campus but a number of core branch-related companies are Tech Mahindra, Deepak fertilizers for chemical, Tata Chemicals, etc. The average package is 3.2 Lac and the highest is 42 Lac. One of the students from the mechanical branch got a package of 1 crore from Amazon but it was off campus. Most of the students from core branches go for either off-campus placement or prepare for GATE.
Fees and Financial Aid
In the beginning, the college fee was around 1.25 lakh and with the hike of 5% every year the fee structure is as follows 1st year is 1.25 lakh 2nd year is 1.31 lakh 3rd year is 1.38 Lakh and 4th year is 1.45 lakh They take examination fees separately for each semester which is always above 5000 Rs There are certain scholarship programmes that are not run by the college they are run by different government schemes and are eligible to very few students like 1 or 2.
Campus Life
There are no extra activities in the college, no annual fest no tech fest. It feels like school only. The library has a good range of books and has books related to almost all subjects and has a huge collection. The college has 2 canteens and a good sports ground where some sports events are conducted regularly. The campus is very beautiful as it has many trees but the security guards are equally worst in manners. They act as if it's their college and use vulgar slang on students who sit on the campus. The classrooms have projectors and washrooms are there in each floor. There are many social groups one can join like EDC, LEO, NSS, Clixzy, Rhapsody, Malang, etc Many sports events are held in college like kabbadi, basketball, football, cricket, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is a major concern for boys as they are not allowed to stay in the college's hostel after 1st year but girls can stay in the girls' hostel for their entire college life. There are 2 girls hostel and 1 boys hostel. In the girls' hostel, there is an old ladies' hostel and a new ladies' hostel. The old lady's hostel has triple sharing and a common washroom. No wifi or laundry services are provided. It is inside the campus and has an in time of 8 pm. 3 times meal is provided in this hostel and if you wish you can buy and eat snacks from the hostel's canteen itself. Its fee is around 1.2 lakh per year. New Ladies hostel: Its fee is more than the college's fee i.e 2.5 lakh per year. It is mostly accommodated by medical students. It has many facilities such as Double occupancy, AC rooms, individual washrooms, etc. Other than the college's hostel there are some good private PGs like Queens residential which provides the same facilities as the new ladies' hostel but at a lower price, Stanza Living, etc.
Admission
The admission was done through BVPCET which is an entrance exam conducted by the college itself and no other exam is accepted by the college. There are few seats reserved for management quota students whose fee is just double the original fee. In the chemical branch, there are not a lot of students as this branch is in less demand. And also cutoff is very low, even if you score negatively you'll get a chemical branch. But yes there are many students who have taken an interest in this branch and competition is tough. You can find the application on the official page of Bharati Vidyapeeth. Its registration fee is around 1900/- After the exam, the college will first call you offline to the campus for admission but after sometimes they start the online procedure also.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Chemical Engineering)
Fee was too high so we could not afford it.
