Remarks

As you know, I applied for this college after passing the JEE Main entrance exam. The Admission process was online i.e. through the JOSAA counseling portal. I got the benefits of being in an OBC category when joining. I opted for the Civil Engineering course and my All India General rank was 18000 in JEE Mains and 16000 in JEE Advanced and my All India OBC rank was around 4000 in both. I opted for this college over some new IITs as it was one of the oldest and renowned top NIT. Civil Engineering branches of NITW is the best in all other NITs.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

I was originally interested in the Civil Engineering branch and hence I was going to choose only the civil branch in any college. The student ratio of the civil branch is around 75% male to 25% female. The faculty of Civil NITW is well-knowledgeable and approachable. But I see most of them are old fashioned and have no experience of modern technology and developments. And talking about exams, they were all timely and according to the schedule. And the pattern was almost the same with previous years. If you attended all classes and were attentive during the class then it's very easy to pass any Subject.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

As I have already said Internship opportunities are very less. Most IT companies will come for internships and they'll mostly select circuit branch students for the internships. If you want to get an internship in other areas and the core branch then you can ask the professor if they have any contacts to get you an internship.

Placement Experience

4

Campus Placement of NITW is the best in all NITs. From 3rd year of B.Tech you are eligible to sit for campus drives. Internship and Job both are provided in the campus but still there is a lock of interns compared to job opportunities. This year(2022-23) many companies visited and till end of November 1000+ offeres are made to the students. Almost 80% of eligible students are getting placed every year. If you have 7+ CG then its highly likely that you're getting placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure is mostly according to your financial condition i.e. your income certificate. Fee hike is there every year but students have right to raise voice and discuss things about it. Scholarship is providing to the top scoring students. You can even go for student loan. Talking about Campus job NITW is the topmost NIT in campus placement. I got a job in Axis bank with 8LPA CTC. Getting a job from campus is very easy compared to off campus placements.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life at NITW is quite good. Quality of infrastructure and maintenance is one of the best in all NITs although it being a government institute. There is two big fest in NITW, one technical fest called Technozion hosted in odd semester and one culture fest called Spring's Spree in even semester. Library is well equipped with books with a count of more than 1lakh books. But there is no diversity in type of books in the library. Classroom are well equipped and ventillated. There are various clubs in NITW but most people have bad experience with clubs. It seems there is not that great support and attention towards sports and extra curricular activities from institute side.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is very good compared to other government institutes. Although the maintenance of hostels is questionable. In one room you get accommodation of one bed, one chair, one table, almirah. Every room has a facility of LAN through which you can connect to high-speed internet. Hostels are located inside the campus only. There is various mess that provides food for the students on campus with different contractors. The quality and taste of food are different in a different mess. It's a mess, so you should not expect it highly. It's one of the worst messes in all NITs and IITs. Registration for a hostel is very easy and affordable for middle-class students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like that the course doesn't feel outdated. Along with the regular subjects we spend a lot of time on coding, projects, and problem solving so it feels connected to what companies actually expect. As a second year student i already feel like i am building skills that i will be able to use during internships and placements and not just preparing for semester exams

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Placement cell is least active.. Few good companies like Infosys, amazon, TCS etc visited but the average package is of 1-2 LPA and only 25-30% of students whose all exams are cleared can sit in the placement cell. The highest package is of 8LPA. My plan is to move abroad for higher studies.. The students after completion of 6th sem can sit in placement cell

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams

Campus placements do exist , and it really depends on the person not much on gpa the highest was 40lakhs per annum one time , the lowest was 3lakhs , it really varies time to time but nowadays with advancment in AI and more competition placements aren't really guaranteed
