Remarks

Admission in JIST is through CEE councilling. It is the first Science college of North East India establish in the year 1971. Engineering was introduced in year 2009 with a total of 4 engineering branch presently .JIST campus is equipped with high speed internet connection along with 2 boys hostel and 2 girls hostel . Placement in JIST has been improving in recent years with placements in various sectors like NRL, TCS, Buju's, Bharat Electronics, Capgemini, IGGL etc

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculty of the college is very good and friendly. Total of more than 60+ teaching faculties are there including Basic Science,Engineering, Computer Science and IT, and Humanities department. Qualification of faculties is PhD, M.Tech, M.E, MPhil etc Total 3 class test and End Sem Exam is conducted in a semister.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 15000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees structure of college is approx Rs15,000 per year for engineering. Many scholarship can apply by the students of the college like Ishan Uday Scholarship, Pragati girls scholarship, OBC scholarship etc

Campus Life

Abeyaantrix is the National Level Annual Technical Festival of Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology. Major events of abeyaantrix are Robotics, Workshops, Quiz, Debate, Games, Fashion Show, Cultural Night, etc. It is conducted in the month of March-April. Many clubs are there in the college like Google Developer Students Club, Robotics Club, Electronics Hobby Club, Cultural Welfare Society, Entrepreneur Club, PEI Community, Chemistry Society etc

Interview Experience

Addmission is done on basis of Assam Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) marks and rank. Syllabus for Assam CEE is 12th Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For addmission in JIST you rank in CEE will be below 1000.

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIT Guwahati are excellent especially in the tech field ,with high placement rates and strong average packages generally Rs 30 lakh per annum. Top companies regularly visit the campus. After completing the course if i do not get placed on campus which is hardly possible i'll look for other off campus placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Most of the professors are good here.The college covers the core subjects required for strong foundation in engineering. However the theoretical coverage is good the scope for practical exposure is still required.

Placement Experience:

The placement is quite good in my college. In 7 th semester the placements start and the package goes from 16lpa to 2 cr . About 75 percent student who applied got placed . I want to work in a software firm.

The placement of Assam engineering College is average as compared to the other colleges like iit and not. Aec gives placement around 20-24 lakhs and many company parts in the placement cell and many of the students get their dream job

Placement Experience:

Students normally appear for placements in fourth year with two placement seasons namely from december to january and february to march. Companies include quant companies and tech giants like JPMC, Reliance Industries, WellsFargo,Piramal, Standard Chartered,Texas Instrumentation, walmart, Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte,Oracle, HCL, Barclays, Tata steel, uber, legato, Mastercard, Nutanix, BPCL, BEL,PWC, Socgen, etc. Almost 80% students get placed every year with the average package ?1,60,000. The highest package was 1.68 crore per annum from the branch of Computer Science.

Placement Experience:

only fourth year students are eligible for campus placements . the detalis of the visiting compaies are not thte sure but at least 10 stuents are placed each year from every single batch. the higest so far was 20 lpa and it was in amazon , the student who cracked that placement applied it off campus . on campus placement was not more than 10 lpa so far . the percentage of students getting placemnets are less than 50% not because of quality of placement but majority stuents opt for higher studies or goverment jobs rather than direct placement . my paln is to also pursue higher education

I chose JIST because of its balance between affordability, academic structure and accessibility compare to many private engineering colleges JIST offers a government aided set up with lower fee which was an important factor for me at the same time. It provides a stable academic environment with focused engineering curriculum, other reason was location JIST is situated in Jorhat, which is relatively well-connected and has a calm academic atmosphere compared to colleges in bigger cities. It has fewer distractions and allow students to focus more on studies. Best coolege

This college is good but the infrastructure, faculty can a lot better, no internet facility there where as routers are available but no connection on them, computer labs are worst. Only few of computers are workable no projectors no digital teaching....Read More
