I am also from the EWS category and I availed of this. Not at all, it is purely online mode everything is done easily.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it is a circirutary branch and has a good possible opening in its sector as well as PSU. 2 main professors, 4 assistant professors, and some Ph.D. scholars in every department, the subject are taken by the respective department, and students per class are around 100 for each batch except civil which has 180. Every faculty is highly qualified and many have ongoing research as NIT is a government college, teaching methods of many are excellent but some are a little bookish and hard to understand. One mid-semester exam (30% weightage) and one end-semester (60% weightage) along with internal assessment (10% weightage) is the standard pattern, exam standard entirely depends on the teacher but the thumb of rule is that at least two subjects are going to be either tricky or very difficult (generally math).
Internships Opportunities
PSUs like ONGC, drdo, etc., and institutes like IIT KSP, IIT BHU, Ms. Ramaiah, etc offer internships along with local companies like Novo cabs, peaks auto Pvt. Ltd., etc. The average stipend was 14.2k. Projects and outcomes are different for every company.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placement from the fifth semester. Google, Samsung, PSUs, Indian oil, Microsoft, bhel, Mahindra, etc. Offers made in total were 565. Highest 42 LPA, average 12lpa 77.3% MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
Fees and Financial Aid
It is a government college so it is regulated by the government so fees hike will mostly not be there for three years. Financial assistance is given on basis of family income of below 5 lac and below 1 lac annual income to SC/ST students. The scholarship is received from the state government or NSP. I am studying in my second year and thus haven't received a job
Campus Life
No annual fest, fests are mostly not conducted and events are generally just done by sitting in classrooms, tech-fest is done similarly by club semicolon. The library has all course-related books and a few additional ones related to competitive exams like gates and periodicals. Classrooms have elevated seats, smart boards, air conditioning, and proper lighting system. Sports and extracurricular activities are at a bare minimum but will change after the completion of the construction of multiple basketball, tennis, cricket grounds. Groups can't be formed without faculty approval but are still run by students, some groups include, the sargam club (music), semicolon (coding), rhetoric club (debate), etc.
Hostel Facilities
Room is congested, with 5 people per room and joint bathroom for the first two years, hopefully, will get better in 2023 by the completion of the mega hostel. Meal quality is disastrous, inedible and very poor for first two years, worst food I've seen in my life. An anti-ragging affidavit is taken and the rest is covered in fees registration, the hostel fees are affordable. Never rented a room
