Remarks
The duration of the M.Lib.I.Sc. The programme shall be 2 years, each year comprising two semesters. Each semester lasts for six months inclusive of examinations with a minimum of 90 working days. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION: Candidates seeking admission to the programme shall be required to have obtained a Bachelor's degree (under 10+2+3 pattern) from this University or any other Indian or foreign University recognized by Kannur University with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination. Candidates belonging to socially and economically backward communities (OBC) are eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent marks in the qualifying examination. Those belonging to scheduled castes/scheduled tribes need only a pass in the qualifying degree examination to apply for admission to the programme. ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Admission to M.Lib.I.Sc. The programme will be made purely on the basis of an entrance test to be conducted by the Dept. of LIS.
Course Curriculum Overview
Two kinds of courses are offered to the students in the programme. They are Core Courses and Elective/Open courses. Core courses and Elective Courses are offered directly by the parent department offering the programme and Open elective courses are offered either by the parent department or by any other department. The maximum marks for continuous Evaluation shall be 40 and shall be based on the following components: Written Assignments/Oral Presentation/Term. All faculties are PhD honours. They have good knowledge of subjects
Internships Opportunities
The internship is part of the curriculum. Internship opportunities are available inside and outside of the campus. The majority of students are gets higher rankings in institutions for their internship and also completed with good knowledge. Those are getting stipends in the middle of the internship.
Placement Experience
Campus placement offers to depend upon the student's excellence. Faculties and other departments recruit students through their academic excellence. 80 per cent of students get placement through their performance. They are recruiting in many Colleges and institutions.
Fees and Financial Aid
The only examination fee must be collected by the students. There are many scholarship opportunities are available for students in each academic year. Also gets campus placement and officers to the students for their academic excellence.
Campus Life
The Department of Library and Information Science of Kannur University provides good campus life. Department conducted many programs including seminars, workshops and some orientation programmes. The department is attached to the central library system which includes 55824 books, 213 periodicals, 17 newspapers, databases, 20000 e-books and e-journals.
