Remarks
After giving the JKCET (state exam for medical colleges), I got into the college after the counselling sessions held. I tried for MBBS but couldn't get into it and chose BAMS later. There was no such quota. I applied in Open merit although JKCET has quotas like sc/st/obc etc Counselling is the same as any other counselling process. We have to fill our choices according to the branch and college and then accordingly we get our college (acc to the rank obtained)
Course Curriculum Overview
BAMS is our tradition, the oldest type of medical science and with the advent of growing ayurvedic practices in day-to-day life, it is a good course to take up. The college takes around 90 students per batch where there is no fixed female: male ratio. The faculty is decent. The administration could be better. The exams were sometimes not conducted on time or the result was pending and due to covid, the 5.5 yr got converted to almost 7 yrs.
Internships Opportunities
The one-year internship is compulsory. The college provides a 6-month ayurvedic internship to be done (compulsory) without any stipend. It can also be done in other ayurvedic hospitals with the proper approval of the college head. The other 6-month allopathic internship is to be done in any allopathic hospital after taking proper permission from the college head and the hospital head. No stipend is provided throughout the own year time.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee gets hiked after a few years. First-year 1.75 Lakh Subsequent years 1.25 Lakh Bus fee varies. No scholarship per se is given to students however if you get a gold medal after completion of the entire course, some amount is given to the student as appreciation. No stipend is given during internship (1 year compulsory)
Campus Life
An ample amount of books are there in the library. Other than that, no sports or annual fest is conducted although they claim to do so at the beginning of the admission process. No groups/clubs are there.
