IIT JEE 220/480 It has the best location in all IITs. The hill stations like Kullu-Manali, Shimla are close. I wanted to travel India. It seemed like a good place to start. It also has a beautiful campus.

IIT Mandi is a new IIT. I've been to other IITs like IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati. In terms of curriculum it has the most flexible curriculum. You can choose courses from other branches and humanities too. In 3rd year and final year , the majority of the courses are elective. So you can decide courses according to your interest.

Yes, you have to contact personally with professors. The professors are helpful, and liberal. The stipend may vary according to your work done. The companies for placement and internship are same. They pick for both positions. like Amazon, Microsoft etc

In 2015, Amazon visited campus who picked 10 students (5 PO + 5 PPO) @27 lpa domestic offer. Others were Microsoft, cognizant, TCS, tata motors, Eclerx etc. The off-campus placement highest was around 1.7 crore in google. Placement occurs in 7th sem, almost all the students were placed.

Exodia is the annual tech-cult Fest. It happens in April. Rann-neeti is Inter-college sports Fest. Exuberance is intra-college cult fest. There are number of sports, cult and tech Fests which vary according to years/houses.

The fee should be around 75k/sem, including hostel fees. If you are average, or >average, you can get back most of this, in form of scholarship. Hostels are excellent (Best i've seen yet). Mess food is pathetic, so canteen is always an option.

Gender ration is poor. Approx(1:9 or 1:8). IITs are most diverse colleges in India. so you can always experience cultural differences. Extracurricular activities are above average. It's a new IIT. And it's the first one to shift in its permanent campus. So things are building There is no dearth of funds for clubs, programs and competitions.

Only three batches have passed out in 2015. So it's still in novice stage. But it's a small IIT, where everybody knows everybody. So people are generally helpful.

Faculty quality cannot be generalized as all types of teachers are there. There are a good number of professors who are retired and ready to build a new institute.
