Remarks

I had taken Admission in Fergusson College as it was one of the Best colleges in India. I had already decided to Pursue my Graduation in Bsc chemistry. The Admission process started After a week after the 12th Result. Online Form filling was done for various Courses. They First declared the provisional Merit List, And then Students were called for admission according to merit. My admission was done on 23rd June 2017. I had Reservation Of VJNT category and some seats were reserved in College for caste. Also, the Fee structure is different For different categories Ranging from 1500 For Sc-St to 5500 For General candidates. There is no criteria like minimum marks as most of the candidate are meritorious and seats are allocated on a merit basis. On the counseling day, they had called the first 600 Students(which comprised candidates from all categories as seats were distributed based on categories). Documents were checked, and a seat was allowed to a candidate based on merit.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I Was interested in chemistry right from class 11th. I also had a keen interest in becoming a professor in Chemistry.so I decided to pursue a Graduation from Fergusson College with BSc-Chemistry. The chemistry faculty was overall 14 teachers which comprised 11 male teachers and 3 female teachers. The student-teacher ratio was 1:9 All the teachers were highly qualified and Doctorate holders and were very good at teaching theory as well as practicals. In the curriculum, Continuous assessment was carried out through tests, Group discussions, Presentations, Seminars, etc which helped in enhancing our confidence. Monthly tests were conducted as it was a part of continuous assessments. The passing was not that difficult as it was an autonomous institute and the paper was framed upon the things that teacher had taught us. so exams were not that tough.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Fee structure was from 1500 For Sc-ST,2700 For OBC and VJNT, and 5500 for general candidates. Scholarships like Rajashri Shahu Maharaj were available for SC, St, and OBC students. Also Scholarship From Savitribai Phule students for meritorious students Inspire Scholarship From Gov. Of India for students pursuing graduation in-plane science courses. Also Schemes like Earn while Learning was carried out for students to meet their financial needs.

Campus Life

The scenery looks awesome due to the large old trees. There is Gymkhana and Large ground. In January, there is college Fest which comprises Departmental Fest, Spandan, Sports meet, Etc. Various Days like Saree day, Tie day, and Traditional Days are celebrated with great enthusiasm. Everything takes place in January but the preparation for this fest starts Right from December. The library is huge and books almost on all the subjects, Topics, Fiction-Nonfiction, Etc are easily available. Also, Newspapers and various journals and Magazines are made available to the students. The classroom comprises Smartboards that make use of projectors to teach. Also, some videos related to some topics are shown which helps in conceptual understanding. Various sports are being played at college levels like cricket, football, basketball, Volleyball, etc in September and October. All infrastructure is made available for students. NSS and NCC are also available for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is okay if you’re serious and self-motivated. Teachers will help, but you have to go beyond the textbook to really succeed. If the college modernized its syllabus a bit and made the teaching more practical, this course could be a lot more valuable for today’s job market.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from Bsc. 3rd year and Masters 2nd year for placements. The average package lies between 300000 to 400000, however the package is entirely negotiable based on the students' calibre. 70% of students are placed every year. I plan to practise in central or state forensic science laboratory after completion of my degree.
