Remarks

First, you have to apply online through Ashutosh college's official website for admissions. Then merit list will be published after some days. Then you have to confirm your admissions if your name in the list. After someday you will get your student id and roll number and all the details. I choose this course because I can get hands on experience in this course. Faculty members is very good. There are two types for exam. One is a semester exam and another One is a class test. Our college conducts a college first every year. But there is some limitations now due to COVID- 19 restrictions. There is a lot of books in 5he library of our college. We also participate yearly sports in our college

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is extensive from classic to modern American literature. The faculty members are extremely helpful mentors and they guide the students towards proper understanding of English as a subject. The learning procedure is easy and helpful for students of all kinds. There are 4 professors in the department.

Class Size: 2Course Fees: INR 100 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are quite a large amount our lab fees are approximately 11k and including other fees, the total fees of 1 year are approximately 31kto yeah in Kolkata our college takes the second-highest fees for computer science. There is no scholarship or you can say never heard of any.

Campus Life

The life on the campus is quite good the environment on our campus is good. The annual fest is called UDAN it conducts march-April on our campus. We have two libraries and the collection of books is huge. Every dept has a team in every sports category. College arrangements tournaments and we have sports day as well. Our department has a social group where we talk about our problems and everything and seniors help us.

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

In Depth Asutosh College

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks

An honest opinion by a recent graduate

I applied to presidency, st. Xavier's, but as I was from Covid batch, I couldn't meet the required cutoff for those colleges. So yes I got rejection from them. Had I given my ISC board exams, I believe I'd have scored better marks, but hard luck :) I willingly chose this college over the other colleges of Calcutta University, considering this is the best. This college gets numerous applications, so it might be difficult to get the admission, but work upon your merit and connections. There's no entrance. You need to meet their eligibility criteria which keeps get changing, so refer to their website. Your merit will be considered. You must have a good network as well.
