Remarks

Clearing BITSAT is required to get admission in three campuses of BITS Pilani. You can find application form details on BITS admission website. There is no reservation and special quota in the college which is the best thing.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choose MSc Chemistry as BITS curriculum is inspired by MIT, USA where you have a lot of opportunities not only in engineering but in all fields. You can do dual degree including MSc and after 1 year you have to choose one BE degree based on your cg (mechanical in my case). Faculty student ratio is good. Faculties are highly qualified. Term exams are on time and if you study sincerely you will pass the exams.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There are two practice schools in BITS which are considered as internships. PS 1 is unpaid and PS 2 is paid. Stipend can range anywhere between 15000 to 100000. Companies also visit college for summer internship other than practice schools.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement percentage ranges from 93-99 %.Average package is 16.5 lacs highest package was 1.4 crore in a foreign company.Every big company you can think mostly visits the college. After getting the degree students sit for campus placement, go for higher degrees and start their start ups. BITS has exceptional environment for start ups.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees is high but you have merit and merit cum need scholarships available.Student loan is easily available at minimal interest rate as it is tier 1 college. And return on investment is far better than most of the colleges in India.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is awesome. All books are available in library. Classrooms have ac and projectors. All sports facilities are available except swimming pool. Many clubs and departments are available in college which help in overall personality development.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are good for accommodation and are not expensive. Campus residence facilities are quite nice for living. 1st year hostels are exceptional. From second year you have to shift to old hostels but facilities are sufficient.

Placement Experience:

Students can sit for placements in their final year. Many companies visit the campus for hiring drives. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Rubrik, Uber etc. These are some of the biggest IT names in the industry. There are companies that come for corre recruitment too. The highest and average packages are kept confidential. But if rumours are to be trusted, the highest package domestic is around 80lpa Atlassian whereas the average is around 24L for IT and 17L overall. More than 90% of the batch gets placed usually. I plan to work in the IT industry for a while. After that, I plan to go for Masters's's in Business Administration. It is all a plan for now, nothing is set in stone.

Admission:

A student needs to qualify the entrance exam of CSIR or UGC NET JRF and also a person is having basic qualifications with sufficient training of 2-3 months is necessary. Then one can apply for the application online. I fitted in the first one, so I got selected for the interview round which happens only once in a year. Luckily I cleared that also and got an admission in the institute.

You love your life here and you're surely gonna miss it after the end of your course here. A downside here is the sex ratio which is there in any other engineering college of India. A upside is that there is no reservation here.

After coming to BITS Pilani, Goa and spending some time over here, I can rarely speak anything bad about this campus. Everyone here is very helpful especially the seniors. The campus is so big and so well maintained that is is the place I am very happy to be at, just to give an example, our Cricket ground is maintained by BCCI, our campus has a tie-up with IEEE, TEDx, Google and any more.

Remarks:

BITS is one the top engg colleges in the country. It deveops the student as a whole. I already mentioned all the goods and the bads. One thing i would like to focus is regarsing our education system. Our system doesnt allow us to think logically and with our free mind. Our career decision are influenced by our parents and the amount of pay the career offers. Its only during our college life we finds our interests and passion. And sometimes its gets a little late.BITS although being the top engg. college, doesnt promote true knowledge and learning. Resulting in students to more worry about their grades than actually what they learned.
