What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the modern and beautiful infrastructure, the academic block and the library, of the campus , which provides all the facilities needed for a student.
- The student- Faculty interaction is very smooth and friend-like and the exposure to work with them in their research projects is really helpful.
- The sports facilities like the badminton court, squash court, tennis court, basketball court and football and cricket grounds are really well maintained and are a joy to play with your friends.
Dislikes
- The fee structure is on an expensive side when compared to other colleges but it can be covered through loan provided easily by sbi bank as BITS is a teir-1 college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum prepares you directly for the outer world. In the first year, we have mechanical workshop, which gives us hands-on-experience on different machines that are used in manufacturing like the Late, Milling, Foundry etc. The first year consists of subjects from each disciplines of the B.E and the Msc Degrees so as to get the basics of students cleared . Further as we go into 2nd and 3rd years the course gets detailed to the discipline the student choses. The exams are times out evenly in the curriculum so the students would get time to prepare for the exams, which are moderate to hard in level.
Internships Opportunities
There are 3 internship opportunities provided by college. One is the PS 1 , which happens after second year during the summer break where students may chose to enroll to get an internship to work at. This is solely based on the CG the student has after 2nd year. This adds to their experience. All the companies in all three internships are brought by mainly the PSD, but if a student has ties with any company he is encouraged to connect the company with the PSD. Second is the Summer Internship Programme , where students compete among each other to get an intern at top companies. This is skill based and is totally dependent on the shoulders of the students to bag the internship. Lastly , PS2 , must be taken by students in one of the semesters in 4th year. Students are provided with paid internships at top companies to gain hands on experience.
Placement Experience
Students can start sitting in placements from the start of 4th year , when the Placement Division starts bringing companies to the campus. The average package for CS is around 20-26 LPA, for Electrical branches it's around 18-24 LPA and for Mechanical and Chemical it is around 13-16 LPA. These figures would've changed though from the last time I saw. Around 85-90% of the students get placed usually. Top notch companies like Google, Microsoft , DE Shaw, Arcesium Cohesity Rubrick recruit students every year for the tech roles and other prominent companies like Flipkart, Sprinkle, Intuiut and Coin Switch come for managerial roles as well. There is even a chance of getting a PPO through Summer Internship Program which kikstarts in the 3rd year where students compete to get internship in these top companies. Overall , BITS Goa has impeccable placement statistics

Campus Life
There are three main fests , Waves(cultural), Quark(technical) and Spree(sports). There are also Zephyr and Slams which are the inter-hostel fests that help keep the competitive spirit high among students. All these fests are run by student-run departments and clubs. Departments are the ones which are recognised by the campus, and are provided with a Faculty-in-Charge to look after any problems of the department. These organize and run the fests throughout. Clubs are and can be created by people who share similar intrest , like the Filmmaking Club for students intrested in making films, Dance club for dance etc. There is a sports activity centre or SAC where all the sports facilities and gym is available. There are facilities for almost any sport you can think of! Also the gym is well equipped and well maintained. Coming to the "SAC" for brain, we have a huge library, as big as the academic block , which is of two floors. It can accomodate upto 800+ students normally and has a wide variety of books for all the bookworms. It also has a lounge for people who get tired reading to take a chill pill and hangout with their friends before the resume.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel are the D side are the newer hostels and look gorgeous. They are mainly assigned to the freshers. While the hostels on the A side and C side are the old ones but are well maintained throughout. All hostels are cleaned everyday to maintain hygiene. Each side is equipped with its messes, the A-mess, C-mess and the D-mess. Students have to chose which mess they want to eat in after every 1-1.5 months or so and the food in the messes is regulated periodically through surprise and pre-noticed inspections. The registration for the hostels is done along with the on campus registration where the student is alloted a room randomly in first year. In second year, the students gets to chose which hostel and which room he/she wants.
Admission
I applied to IITs, NITs, GFTIs and VIT apart from BITS. I got confirmed admission into VIT while the process for other colleges was ongoing. I withdrew from the process of other as soon as I got into BITS. I also withdrew my application from VIT. I chose this college over other colleges is because BITS is known for its excellence and great alumni network . It also has one of the most successful statistics of placements over other private colleges. The admission to BITS is done through BITSAT. It takes place every year along with Jee Mains and Jee Advance . The cutoffs vary every year for the courses and can be easily found on Google. This exam is of high eminence and is held high in place along with the JEE exams. After scoring well, the course selection and campus selection process is done through BITS's own portal and is solely based on the marks you score in BITSAT.
Faculty
The faculty-student relationship is one of the best I know of. Here we can go to their chambers for consultation in their provided time and talk to them and get to work on their research projects if intrested in that field. No professor shows hesitation in answering even the tiniest/easiest doubts if asked by students, there is no judgement at all. Some of the profs that taught me were, Prof. Pritanshu, Prof. Vadiraj, Prof. Kiran D. Mali and others too . As supposed to exams there are in total 3-4 components in each subject in intrest of professor. There will be midsems which contribute to 30% of course total, endsems/compre which contribute 40% and the rest is divided among quizzes and assignments.
Night Life
The nightlife of the college is amazing! There is no intime for the hostels ! Which means you can roam around the campus 24/7. Though the intime into the college is 10.30pm , which means you cant go out of the college after 10.30pm. For all the night owls, there run 3 different night canteens (NC), in the A side the ANC, for the C side the CNC and the D side has the DNC. The food in all the NCs is delicious to eat but you have to pay out of your own pocket for it. These run uptill 2 am. We also have cafeterias , FoodKing and Ice n Spice which also run upto 2 am and provide variety of options to eat and drink.
