Remarks

The placement situation can be improved, else the college is pretty good.

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE exam to get admission in NIT-Durgapur. Since it is one of the old and reputed institution for technical education in India, there was no doubt for me.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum focuses on in-depth understanding of the subjects or electives opted. All the major courses like (for Computer Science) Data-Structures, OOPS, Operating System etc are taught in 3rd/4th semester which helps students to take a good grasp of the concepts as the time passes and concepts sink in deeply and also helps them able to grab internship/job opportunities later in college life.

Internships Opportunities

No, our college doesn't provide summer internship but have summer-projects for its college students.

Placement Experience

3.5

Branches like C.S.E and I.T have ample job opportunities as many IT firms visits our campus with names like Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, Samsung etc but for the other branches it is a skeptic case. But, placement nearly reaches around 90% by the end of the session with major contribution by mass-recruiters like Wipro, TCS etc

College Events

5

VERVE (Literary cum Youth Fest): Focuses on literary and fun aspects, with major participation from college folks. Recstacy: (Cultural fest) One of the biggest cultural fest of eastern India. Many popular singer, bands and youtuber become a part of this fest. Aarohan: (Technical fest) Second largest tech-fest of eastern India.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For undergraduate: Semester wise fee structure includes Rs.24000/- as tuition fee with monthly mess fee excluded which can lie between the range of Rs.800 - Rs.1800/- Few additional one-time charge for gymkhana can be included in the mess fee during even semester every year. Hence, the fee structure is pretty feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

Semester wise scholarship is provided to students belonging to financial unstable background. Also, in association with S.B.I there are several loan facilities available for students.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is pretty chilled out with a huge gender ratio difference. As there are students coming from not only from every part of the nation but also international students enroll in our college hence giving a big boost to diversity. There are various clubs in our college for one to pursue like Literary, Technical, Environment, Dance, Art & Photography,Debate etc. The clubs provides bigger exposure to oneself. College administration is pretty supportive to sports and athletics.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostel rooms are big enough and are in fairly good condition. But, they are made 3-5 seater which creates all the problems. Also, mess food is not up to standard with weekly-repetition of food-menu. But, more and more hostels are being constructed improving the infrastructure of the college campus.

Alumni/Alumna

NIT-Durgapur have strong alumni network of students. Also, club-wise alumni networks are maintained.

Exam Structure

Semester and Mid-semester exams are well structured. Enough gaps are provided between exams to relax and revise for the next exam. Labs also focus on practical application of the concepts taught in class and are evenly distributed throughout the week.

Admission

After qualifying AIEEE there were several college allocation rounds. Normally, there are three rounds and one bonus round (In case seats are still left in colleges). After college & course allocation there are counseling processes which are carried out at the allocated institution.

Faculty

3

The faculty of the college is very experienced and have strong concepts in whatever subjects they are teaching. Many of them have research papers and patents in their name. They help by promoting and encouraging students to take on innovative and challenging projects (personal/academic).

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
