Entrance Preview

IIT and I secured 59 marks. I was interested in IT from 9th standard. So, I took the course. I wanted a college that was near to my hometown where I could updown and had a decent reputation which this college had.

Course Curriculum Overview

Well I very much like the course because they teach human values, English too besides other basic things which makes it lively. They also make us do practical jobs.

Internships Opportunities

Well, Wipro came recently but I am a fresher but got to know from my seniors that they came with 4 lacs package and took 2 or 3 students.

Placement Experience

Well, that's the foremost reason I'm got into the college. They have joint entrance and people from other colleges come too and they say many students from our college got selected. Microsoft, Accenture, Wipro,L&T and others pay a visit here.

College Events

There are Freshers party and a singer usually comes like this time Redbull along with Singer Badshah came and there is the technical feat Parivartan where 3 to 4 singers come and huge fun is there and it happens around Oct or Nov.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a scholarship in which you score above 80% you can get a laptop and there is a scholarship for SC and ST too.

The parties are very good and the gender ratio is like 4 girls per 10 male. The workshops are fun and the clubs also vary from robotics and literary club. The labs are air conditioned. There are people from south India, Odisha, J&K but mostly are from Punjab and Other North Indian States and people from different parts of Africa like Nigeria are also there.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are very decent not too good and not too bad. The mess is really the main attraction and there is 4 people in one room. The seats are plenty and a bus can also be taken from another hostel branch to reach the college. The hostel fees is Rupees 65000/- and the PG rents are Rupees 5000 to Rupees 7500/-.

Alumni/Alumna

The college alumni are very much confident and work for NGO's or with youth organization within college and visit frequently. They tell about how they thought and what we are going right through with. They motivate us and instill us with hope that we can also be successful and unique.

Faculty

The faculty is really great and motivate us all the time and teach with cracking some jokes in between to lighten up the mood. They are very qualified and really you can go ask them in private, which I do if you don't understand anything.

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

Likes

good infrastructure , large libraries and practical labs
helpful and large opportunities in campus

Dislikes

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

The curriculum is relevant and covers core cse subjects like programing DSA and DBMS . it provides good fundamental for placements and further studies , more practical projects and industry based teaching would improve it .

75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time

Life at CGC Landran

Likes

Infrastructure, most teacher behaviour, friendly students

Frequent demand of money as fees n hostel charge
Gym is provided but only for name, no fame , always full

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Life at CGC Landran

So honestly, I chose CGC Landran mainly because it felt like the most “value for money + safe placement option” out of the colleges I applied to , I had applied to Chandigarh University, Chitkara, Rayat Bahra, and a couple of govt colleges through JEE counseling, and I actually got confirmed admission in CU and Rayat Bahra too, but CGC felt more balanced in terms of fees, crowd, hostel vibe and overall campus life. CU was too crowded and felt a bit like a “factory”, and Chitkara was way too expensive for me, plus their strictness is next-level. I did get rejected from one govt college because my JEE rank wasn’t good enough (my percentile was okay but not that great, only 89%ile), so cutoffs didn’t work in my favour there — basically I messed up my Maths paper. CGC’s admission process was pretty chill: you need to have passed 12th with PCM and a decent percentage, and they accept both JEE Main and non-JEE (direct merit) admissions; most students join through direct merit because JEE cutoff here isn’t very high. Cutoff is not fixed but usually if you have around 70%+ in boards, you’ll get CSE easily in early rounds. The overall admission experience was smooth — counseling, document verification, paying the initial amount, and that’s it. For me, CGC just felt like the right mix of academics, placements, and affordability, so I picked it over the others without overthinking too much....Read More

Honest review

I choose this college because there are very reasonable fees which we can afford. This is well known college in my area which gives the placement to many students that was the best thing about my college. In our college they train the student by taking TPP in this we have verbal, technical, aptitutde. They prepare us for the interviews and this is not done in any other colleges. In first i tried to take admission in chandigarh university but there fees structure is out of my budget. So i choose the Chandigarh Group of College over the Chandigarh University.
