Remarks
As I am of General category so there were no reservation benefits for me but for students of other castes such as SC, ST and OBC there is tremendous benefit in the admission process Also the BPL category can also avail Almost 90% reduction in the admission fees if they have income less than 200000 per annum for which they have to show proof of income.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since my 12th I had an interest in the field of societal research and especially in the field of social work so in order to know this field precisely I took Sociology as my Hons course. The Faculties are qualified. Almost every member of the faculty holds a Masters degree with previous teaching experience. Exams are timely. Two sessional exams are held in every semester of 20 marks and questions are set by the faculties of the concerned department l. Sessional exams are moderate and very much important for internal assessment in the end semester exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is very much minimal as it's a Government runned college. Therefore it's not very costly. But there are some departments that are self-financed by the college and admission in those departments are costly and usually exceeds Rs 10000. My course was also such a course. The Department of Sociology is a Self-financing Department. Students can avail financial benefits depending on their annual household income and academic performance. Various state and central government scholarships are available like the Ishan Uday Scholarship. Students having an annual household income of less than 200000 can also avail financial benefits during admission by showing proper proof of income.
Campus Life
There is a Central library open for all students. Also, various departments have their own libraries. There are various smart classrooms with digital amenities General Freshers and Departmental freshers are conducted every year. The main attraction is the Annual College week which ends with a mesmerizing cultural program. There is a lot of scope of cultural and Sporting activities. Performing well at the college level can lead students to inter-college and Dibrugy University Youth fest
