Remarks

IIT Kanpur is one of the renowned institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Born and brought up in Kanpur itself, I used to dream about studying here. This IIT is ranked among the top 10 institutes by NIRF in the engineering domain. I worked very hard in preparation for JEE Advance exam and scored very well. After the interim merit list, I sat for the interview round conducted online by the professors. The registration fee for the course is Rs.300 my application was submitted online.

Course Curriculum Overview

The decision to pursue a dual degree was very good in terms of the course structure. During the first three years, we get the basic knowledge of the concepts we are going to study in the last two years. Class size is kept uniform in the entire campus to ensure the productive learning of the students. All professors are Ph.D. holders in their respective fields of knowledge. Some of them have been a part of research projects as well.

Course Fees: INR 213000 per year

Placement Experience

Soon I will also be sitting for the placements of my batch and I have to admit, I am feeling very nervous and anxious. My professor told me to start preparing from the very start and I did the same. In the former year, 287 recruiters participated offering the highest domestic CTC of Rs. 1.2 CPA and highest international CTC of Rs. 2.06 CPA. Axtria, EXL, Goldman Sachs, OLA emerged as the top recruiters of the week.

Fees and Financial Aid

The amount required for pursuing a dual degree at IIT is quite high. Rs. 10.31 lakhs is the total fee. To support students who come from weak financial backgrounds; Shanti and Ramkishore Sahai Saxena Memorial Scholarship, Mathur Brother Scholarship, INSPIRE Scholarship, Merit Cum Means Scholarship is available for the students along with the financial aid from the banks.

Campus Life

Kanpur itself is a happening place and so is the campus life of IIT. A whole lot of tech and curricular activities are organized for the students to showcase their talent and open up their thinking capacity. Resources in the terms of library, tech, and lab equipment are top-notch. Sports facilities on the campus are very great. The infrastructure of the campus is also ok though some buildings are old and were developed quite a few years back.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good. Companies that hire for Electrical core: Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Bajaj etc. Software/Quant compaines open to Electrical: Squarepoint Capital, NK Securities, Google, Microsoft etc. The % of students getting placed are 85%. Average package is 29.33 lpa. I have got an internship in Nvidia Software.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is very good in this college. In my own CSE branch there is good placement package you can get. But in this year due to recession the placements is less in IT section but still placement is going on and top package has crossed 35LPA. During previous years top package was around 44LPA and average was 10-12 LPA . Also in other branches like Chemical engineering and mechanical engineering, the placement is at its best of 100% always.

I choose this college becouse of its flexible acdemic structure and its great Alum connections. Also this is the best college i am getting according to my rank and my interest in mathematics. I have Applied for IIT delhi in electronics. IIT Delhi is also a great college but when it comes to academic focus IIT delhi lacks there. Also there faculty administratation is so strict. if a student wants to start something or he/she has a new iniative for the college , he/she will face hard time. So I couldn't make it to IIT Roper CSE branch because my jee adance rank is not that great for the Roper' Computer science. So the Admission process here at IITK is not difficult. You just the originaly document which you have submitted in your josa counselling portal and you need to verify it once here usually a couple opf hours work. The cut-off for IITK varies-from branch to branch. For example the CSE of IITk open from Jee advanced general rank of 115 to 250....Read More

I chose IIT Kanpur over othe rcooleges because of its academic reputation, research opportunities and strong alumini network. I was also able to get seats in other IITs but I preferred IIT Kanpur due to its legacy . I didn't face rejections, but did not opt for some colleges even after qualifying due to lower research output, weaker placement stats.
